Rear A-Spec lip installation requires pointless drilling??

I'm about to install my rear A-Spec bumper, and when looking at the instructions, it seems that it has me drilling a hole (see below link), but this hole is never used. I'm thinkin maybe it is to expose the screw behind it???

Anyone installed this lip without drilling that hole?

Step 8 in the following instructions:

Anything that the instructions say to do is needed, end of story. Thread should be closed now, any admins in on this?

its so you can remove the rear bumper without having to remove the aspec lip.

I thought the exact same thing when I was installing mine last week. It is indeed to access the screw behind it. I ended up drilling it as instructed. Goodluck with the install

^ If everyone had this mentality, we would live in a world similar to this:

Thanks for the clarification!

I didnt drill mine.. so when I had to take my bumper off I had to remove the sides of the aspec lip and had to redo the tape.. At the time I wished I had drilled it..

pitty.. I've installed like 6 rear lips... havent drilled not even once yet... I just use some high quality 3m double stick tape... results in zero gaps
