Rear Seat Armrest on 2004 TL

Hi Guys, I just cameback from Acura Woodbine as I need another rear door checker replaced due to squeaking. I also noticed that the cupholder does not retract, it sounds like there is a coin in there. Does anyone know how I can remove this coin in behind the cupholder. The dealer is going to charge me to do this?

question...

This is off topic but how do you find the service at Woodbine...I went there to test drive a TL and was treated like a child which really annoyed me.

On the phone when I was calling into see if they had any 6 speed manuals to test drive they were amazing saying the only one they had was a 6 speed A-spec and that it would be moved out of the show room for me to test and I would have it to myself for a couple of hours to try it out...

As soon as I got there it all changed, they were pretty much jerks to me, all of a sudden they couldn't get it out of the show room for a test drive....Im 23, I look like Im 20 (and thats pushing it) but I present myself properly and Im well spoken...Im really worried when I go purchase one...I hope I dont get shitted on, and I really dont want this to become a reason for me not to purse a TL for purchase...

Let me know your experience with them

There is a plastic shroud by the leather. It is held in place by 4 clips: 2 on top and 2 on bottom. Pry gently with a screwdrive and it will pop off. You can then remove the cup holder..

They have changed there service manager in the last 6 months and I was not impressed by their attitude towards me, and I'm 46. I find they do not take care of faults unless you mention it to them, in my mind they are not providing premium service, but service of a middle of the road Honda dealer.

My kids use to put change in my arm rest all the time. They would be back there and I hear, oh look a cash register. I got it out by taking the arm rest out and shaking it till all the change falls out. Not scientific but it works.

To remove the armrest do you need to remove the rear seat?

No, just put your knee into it and it will come out. It’s on a bar that inserts into the back seat. It’s real easy to pop it out and put back in.

There is a clip on the drivers side of the armrest on the bar that must be removed before popping out the armrest. look for it and you will see it snaps right out...Then go and remove the armrest

Clips out!

How hard do I have to pull on armrest, as its's not coming out easily?

Just push it all the way to one side until the metal bar slips out of its hole and then pivot armrest out and pull. good luck.

This thread might help a little. There's a service manual scan which might make the process a little clearer.
