Rear Deck Lid Adhesive
Am I the only one that has this problem ?
I washed my car for the first time when I received my car back about 2 weeks ago. Noticed one side of the rear deck lid start to raise a bit. Freaking adhesive is not sticking too well. I press it back down and it stays for a couple days but when its hot again it seems to rise back up. Anyone know how to remedy this? I dont want to go back to the dealer I bought it from since its not that close.

Are you talking about the deck lid spoiler? If so, it's supposed to be attached with bolts and adhesive, so it shouldn't be raising up. See if the bolts are loose or if they are even there.
Or am I not understanding you and you are talking about something else?

Listen to RonA, I installed my own deck spoiler (the larger one) and it was a combination of an adhesive and 2 bolts that I drilled through my trunk. The adhesive is purely for weather, not meant to install.

I need to edit my last posting a little. I checked the instructions for the wing spoiler, not the deck lid spoiler. The deck lid spoiler has studs attached to it, and is then held in place by mounting nuts.
The last sentence in the mounting instructions tells you to check the mounting nuts periodically, and retighten them if necessary.
I think if I had a deck lid spoiler installed, I would consider cutting two holes in the trunk liner, just big enough to get a socket in so I could check the mounting nuts without having to remove or bend back the trunk liner. Don't know how bad it would look, but it might make checking the mounting nuts easier.

Yes - I just checked last night but didnt get a chance to repost.
There are two studs coming from somewhat the center area of the trunk. These are mounted by two bolts. Not near the edges of the sides where there is Adhesive. The right side pops up where the adhesive should be holding it down so there is no gap between. I may have to open it up today after work to see if i need to retighted the right side , hopefully bringing the right side down a bit so it would be flush with the trunk.
I will update

I had the opposite problem. WHen the spoiler got hot, it laid down, when it cooled off, it popped up on the left side. I had the dealer replace the spoiler during a maintenance check (oil change) and no more problems.

Hi Vic
Thanks - Kinda wierd. I will check it out later today and see if its the bolt. I dont like to go to the dealer and plan to do my own oil changes.

I had the exact same problem nearly one month after I got my car. I took it back to the dealer and they redid the whole process. One month later the edge was coming up again. I took it back again. They acted as if they couldnt believe what was going on and in a roundabout way blamed me for pulling on it when closing my trunk and for using a powerwasher to wash my car. Both of which I never did. Finally they used superglue to glue the edge down. In addtion, they managed to get glue all over my truck, some of which I could never get off. Needless to say this dealer is a real jack ass and I now get all my service done at the other Indianapolis Acura dealership. My suggestion would be to try the dealer once. If it happens again use superglue or some trim glue and do it yourself.

Thanks Mbrown -
I pressed it down just now again in the hot sun and lets see if it holds. I got that trim adhesive on the way if it doesnt work. And if it pops up again I will check out the bolts to see if it also needs tightening
