Rear bumper exhaust tip trim

The trim peices around the exhaust tips on the rear bumper of the non-A-spec 04 TL have white(ish) deposits on them that I can't seem to get rid of. I've tried IPAlcohol, Plastex, Mothers Carnuba Cleaner Wax, bristle brush wash. I've resorted to an extremely gentlle Scotchbrite session using Dawn dishwashing soap, and 303 Aerospace to finish it off. The 303 leaves it looking decent but I consider this a bandaid rather than a fix. The plastic pieces are a textured gray plastic but I'm not sure if solid or painted.

Anyone else experience this problem and have a fix ?

The parts in question are #11 and #12

1) Bumper cover
2) Bumper cover Clip
3) Grommet Grommet Back
4) Screw Screw Back
5) Bracket Bracket Right
6) Bolt Bolt Back
7) Green pearl Green pearl Back
8) Upper Upper Right
9) Lower Lower Right
10) Screw Screw Back
11) Trim molding Right
12) Trim molding Left
13) Clip Clip Back
14) Energy absorber
15) Reinf beam
16) Reinf beam Nut
17) Base dealer installed accessory White diamond
18) Control module
19) Buzzer switch

Here's a poser: describe the function of #19

You may want to post this in the Wash and Wax section.

There is a good chance they were waxed andbeing textured plastic they absorb the wax and its very hard to remove.

First off try a pink Pearl Eraser then dress then with 303 .

If that doesn't work I have had sucess with NevrDull marketed by Eagle 1. its less than $4 a can. Also good for cleaning the exhaust tips and other bare polished metal.

Then keep the wax away from them.

Don't laugh, this does work...

use PEANUT BUTTER!

The oil does wonders. Then use 303 to polish it up.

Thanks for all the tips. Mmm...peanut butter. I'm visualizing the neighborhood dogs chasing my yummy TL as the intoxicating smell of peanuts wafts through the hood.. Skippy.
I wonder if the peanut oil just 'wets' the deposits making them transparent similarly to 303 which I believe is temporary.

Can softer plastics can be polished similarly to hard plastics as used in say a tail light lens? I've used Brasso as well as Plastex on hard plastics but what happens to softer plastic as you polish it.

Peanut butter takes wax off black trim and does not do anything to plastics, etc. that I have ever encountered. Believe you me, I have a container of Jiffy in my garage that I've used over the years. Yeah, it's at least 3 years old, if not more, but it does work - but I don't dare eat it.
