The TL takes a 43" and the Accord takes a 47"... I'll let you try it and let me know how it works.

that's what I'm wondering. They didn't say if you have to drill/dig into the ceiling or rear speaker board.

looks like 2 screws on the speaker board and a clip over the head liner, damn looks like something doable, just wish it was automated, do it, and we will surely follow...

I agree..I used to have this on my 5 series and it was a nice feature but 20x better because it was automatic. I don't think I would do this mod though.

Only the RL comes with an "automatic" sunshade, as in hit the button and it pops up. Very cool.

I had a manual version on my VW Jetta, it's great if you park outside, but does kinda suck havin to reach back there and grab it...

I may go for this for $30 though.

I'll wait to see more mods like this in the future. I'd prefer an automatic or just the one from the RL sold on the market. Otherwise, I'll just pay $5 and buy another sunshade for the rear from WalMart

Yeah this does look cool - I emailed the guy - install is 4 screws.......

I think we would be screwing into the headliner........ not sure how that would work out

I looked at doing that, no way...

There's nothing "bolt on" about it... Wiring, button location, controller, the rear RL deck is shaped differently...

You're talking MANY hours of labor, a lot of " ghetto modding", and about $600+ in parts.

Steve,

Traditionally, the 4 screws secure the sunshade (it rolls up, like the map in grade school). You attach little clips to the headliner to attach the open end of the sunshade to. Very simple...

Please note, this is an OEM accessory for the second gen INSPIRE, but fundamentally, they're the same thing

I think so... I have tint, but these work a lot better, I figure between the 2, my rear deck MAY stay black and not fade to that awful ashy gray color.

$35, I figure it's worth a shot.
I paid $200 for the VW oem manual version... man I don't miss German cars.

Well, I did a little checking of this website and it seems to be on the up. So I took the plunge and ordered one. I decide to try it because my daughter is in a rear facing car seat in the back and the sun bothers her. I tried the $10 suction cup crap from Babies-R-Us and the thing wouldn't stay attached due to the defogger grid. So I returned it. I'll post something when I get it and install it.

jscout--thanks for taking the plunge. Let us know how the install goes. Pics would help. For now, I'm just shoving a $5 sunshade from Walmart over the rear deck when I park the car.

OEM JDM vs. aftermarket... Probably cost over $200 as well! It ain't THAT much nicer... I don't liek how that one is mounted on a pedestal either. Not sure why they did it that way.

jscout, you order up?

My sunshade arrived on Thursday. Good turnaround. Ordered on Monday, shipped on Tuesday out of Uniondale, NY and arrived on Thursday in MA. I have the day off, so the wife took the car today. I will try to install it on Saturday.

The company is:
AUTOSUNSHADES.NET
138 Ebbitts St.
Staten Island, NY 10306

The package arrived in good shape and the shade has some weight to it. It's made in Taiwan. The mesh is a bit thicker than I thought it would be. It's similar to the Baby On Board ones they sell at Babies-R-Us. So my guess is daytime visibility will be fine and nighttime should be acceptable. It does require screws to fasten it to the deck and headliner.

They charged me $10.50 for shipping, but it only cost them $5.70. The price was $31.95 plus shipping, so the net price was $42.45. I guess if you're in NY and near them, maybe you can try to get one in person.

Here are some initial pics. Install pics to follow.

Shade and shipping packaging:

The only instructions are on the packaging, that's it:

Installation hardware:

Extended shade is about 18.5 inches and tapers at the top:

The tabs at the top are about 22 inches apart:

Here's a closeup of a tab with the fastening bracket:

Here's a closeup of the mesh (they call it poly-silk, but there's nothing silk about it):

Maybe I should have tried one of these instead. Anyone try it yet?
http://www.autoshades.com/miva/merch...ategory_Code=R

That's it for now, more after I install it.

Looks simple enough to install jscout. I look forward to our install pics. Curious as to where you're gonna mount the headliner clips...

I emailed the company as they were out of the proper sized powered one. The reply came within 10 minutes and goes as follows:

No, the Europa Mark V will not be made in the future because we are redesigning it. The new one is expected in about 6 months. We had hoped to have it this past summer, but the redesign went under another redesign and now we are looking at the winter/spring. I am keeping a list of email addresses of those customers who are interested in our new product, and I will add you address to the list. When we have more information, I will pass it along.

Sorry! Thanks for the interest in our product. This new one will be GREAT!

Good info from all. Jscout, we're all curious on how easy or difficult the installation will be. Hopefully, it doesn't require too much surgery on your interior

Well, I was gonna install it this weekend, but ran into some issues. Normally, it would be a piece of cake...six screws...done! How hard can that be?

For one, it requires screwing into the headliner. Not that there's a problem finding something to screw into. There seems to be some hard plastic running long the edge on either side of the break light. But I just hate having to put holes in the headliner, especially if I might have to remove the shade. I remembered that I had these cubical wall hooks that are meant to slide in between the cloth and hard surface...like these. So now I'm golden! Not really, since the tension could tear the liner, but at least now I can at least line up where to install the base.

Next issue, I can't screw the base anywhere from immediately behind the rear headrest to about 2/3 over the subwoofer. That's because the speakers are raised. But I don't really want the roller over the speakers. So I slide it back to just behind the speakers. Now, with the way the glass is angled, how the F*** am I gonna get a screw driver in there? Damn, I need a right angle. I don't have one and I don't have time to get one so, I put it away so that I can rethink this.

While playing in my softball play-offs this weekend it hit me that I have a socket wrench, and probably a socket small enough for a phillips bit. I think that'll work. Got home late last night and was too tired, so I'll give it a go tonight.
