Raced a G37S

Talk about a not fair race. Through my first 4 gears i was ahead about... 10 car links. Then my clutch started slipping by the time i hit 140!!!!!!!!!!!! so he got to catch up really easy. When we stopped he stats in with the "I GOT YO ASS!" I could only reply with... wait till i swap my clutch and slipped through 1st and 2nd at the light for him. needless to say, he shut up.

well since i was basically coasting, it wouldn't be that hard even if he was maintaining 140. It was a good race, the guy was just your typical nissan dip.

I don't think 10 car lengths is believable.

that VQ is no joke.
but, i did race a 6mt G35 coupe with a SRI vs my bone stock 5at TL and i took him from a digg and had him the entire stretch we raced down by at least a half car length the entire race then we let off approaching 90. we did 3 runs and had him all 3 times. maybe he had trouble shifting? xP but there was one run where he got a big jump on me but i somehow caught up and still another half car link lol so who knows. its possible especially from a roll but 10 car lengths does sound a bit iffy xP

That's the G35 though. They're good competition, and you can take 'em fairly well. You just have to watch out for the modified ones that'll put up a bigger match.

G37-wise, I don't know if even a fully modified TL-S or supercharged TL can take the little base model. G37 S, no way, unless there's major driver error.

Did you really? Thats pretty good. I have a stock 5at TL also so that makes me pretty happy hah. I always loved the g35 coupe and still do and I always thought that it was much faster than our TL's from a digg and roll.

good race? wonder if the G37 driver knew you guys were racing? 10 cars is pretty long you know especially when these two are similar in performance paper wise.

Remember, it's the street. It's not a very believable story, but who knows. The G37 is much faster than both TL 6MT and Type S 6MT given equal drivers. There's a vid on youtube of a G37 with HFC and K&N filter running a 13.3 @105. Those are Supercharged TL numbers.

I dunno if "you can take 'em fairly well". My friends G35S 6MT takes G37S's all day auto and manual. He's also stock. As for a G37 running 13.3's stock or w/ just a K&N, I find it very hard to believe. They run what in the 1/4 mile? 13.9? 14.1? I'm sure that's the 6MT. If the OP has a Type-S and the G37 guy didn't know how to shift, then I'd believe he took it by several cars. I don't see why most ppl don't believe why the Type-S can't take a G37. My Type-S has taken auto G37's. Why would that be so hard to believe? Many ppl here w/ auto Type-S's have taken charger R/T's that are 340hp. Are they all liars too? Bottom line, if you haven't experienced it, you can't go w/ what's written on paper. If you have experienced it and lost, that doesn't mean others had the same outcome as you.

ok, what ever, u can believe or not, but this guy egg the race on so i answered. I will say that i was probably overstating the 10 cars, but i was deff. ahead till my clutch slipped out.

And yes Type S, 6 MT, some custom mods and weight reduced.

there is a guy who hit 13.3 stock and dipped in the 12's with radials only on myg37 (user name Seer). what ive noticed with the g37 guys is that their times are really inconsistant. you have guys like Seer who are hitting low/mid 13's stock and then it seems like the rest of the folks who are high 13/low 14's stock.

given proper driver to the G the 5AT should lose. their gearing isnt that great. the 6MT would be a "better race" better driver wins it.

Ya that's what I've heard too. That's why I have a hard time believing that G37's are low 13 second cars just b/c one person got that time. Thanks for sharing that info.

man, despite...i love both cars! although there is a G37S owner in my area (U district). Slammed on some stupid springs, tinted tails, black out windows riding on some 19's or 20's...always has his window down...looking around to see if people're checking him/his car out...fuckin' FAG! not saying that about all G drivers, just this one in particular!!!

I can. I challenged my friend's cousin who has a G35 & I took him by a couple lengths before he backed off. It was for shits & giggles, though, but even he wasn't sure he could take my car.
My Type-S has taken auto G37's.
Ok, you don't know if a Type S can take a G35 fairly well, yet you then say you've taken an auto G37.

If you taken the G37, a 3,600lb+, 330Hp car, I'm positive a G35 with 280Hp & weighing in at near 3,500lbs. can't be much more of a challenge.

as ive said before, a car is only as good as its driver. IIRC sometime last year a guy with a bmw M6 ran a 14.1 @ 116 or something like that...talk about bad driver haha. i believe racing a car within 1sec is still drivers race just like how ive beaten an STI from a dig and how the other guy in the other thread beat a S/C 350z.

I'm referring to the G35 that has 306hp not the older models.
