Question for those with AEM CAI with AT

I've installed my AEM a few days ago and just yesterday, I notice that when I shift the car into drive, the engine is louder than in other modes. I'm not sure if it's because of the CAI install. The odd thing is when I let go of the brakes after shifting into drive, the engine is not loud anymore. Has this happened to anyone else?

I wanted to ask... does the CAI make a difference in the AT TL in regards to Hp and take off, top end spped, etc...?

It seems to, for me. It seems to help the most when I am rolling along and then need to gun it to get in front of a car or something. I'm sure it's not much, but the sound is nice too. I think the AT benefits a lot from it.

I can feel that it is a little stronger, but not much. It seems to respond quicker. Before I installed the CAI it lagged a little when pressing on the gas hard, but now it just goes. It feels as though there is less resistance when stepping on the gas. She picks up pretty well on the highway.

Check for contact points under the hood. Apart from the obvious rubber mount...there should be no contact on the pipe whatsoever. Could be a vibration that goes away when you shift to drive and accellerate and the engine shifts on its mounts under the torque and loses contact then, quieting down? Just thinking of things that it might be>?

Thanks MB. I'll check to see if there is anything touching the pipe when I get home. It only vibrates when I shift to drive with my foot still on the brakes. When I let go of the brakes, the vibration goes away. However, it doesn't happen on N or R or P.

I think Michaelbenz is on to something, with the symptoms you describe

hey MB. The problem seems to be fixed after doing two things. I ajusted the position of the intake pipe and cut the breather hose down to length. One of the 2 if not bothe solved the problem. I have another question however. Upon reviewing the instructions, I've notice on step (i) that say to pull up and remove the rubber sleeve connecting the air filter housing to the resonator below. What is this rubber sleeve? Does it house wires? Will it make a difference if I did not remove it? I don't remember removing a rubber sleeve. All I've removed were the hard plastic hoses (inlet tube and resonator connected to it)

Disregard the last question MB. I'm such a dope. The rubber sleeve they are talking about is connected to the filter housing. The picture was misleading, it points to a wire or so it seems.

What warranty does a CAI void when you put it on?

it only voids your warranty if your engine hydrolocks as a direct result of the CAI you had installed... acura has to be able to prove that part was responsible for your car's failure, that is the only way they could say they're not responsible for any damage to your engine.

I was wondering....I thought I was gonna have to bust out the shop manual or something there! I didnt remember anything like you stated...but do still have the entire OEM airbox at home in the garage I could have looked at too. I kind of thought it was something that was probably connected already that you would have HAD to remove to get your new AEM unit installed. Cool. Glad your problems are fixed! Happy motoring!

do u guys really notice a difference in the aem cai for at. i installed mine today with a breather filter and a k&n filter but it seems like the reaction time is slower in the acceleration through rpms than it was before. (taking longer to redline) before it would get up and go instantly when i touched the gas. but i do notice meaner growl.
