Question on painting new hood?
Good Morning to All:
My NBP TL was rattled with hail a few months back and has been in the shop for around a month of it. I noticed it had some "solvent pop" in various portions of the hood. The guy there said he could wet sand it and it would be good to go. Is this correct or should he reshoot the whole car? He already had to reshoot it last week because the paint was chipping on the front lip of the hood. This leads me to my next question: Are the sides and front lip of the hood supposed to be painted 100 percent? i noticed that these areas are sporatically painted. If so, what are the consequnces of just taking my car and not have them redo it? Thanks for any/all input.

Problem with wet sanding is that he could sand through the clear coat and in certain light conditions the difference in the finish would be noticed. He can try to wet sand the area, but you'll need to check very closely if they broke through the clear. Have them repaint everything that's not to your liking and the sides/front are to be painted as the body.
Ask what they are using for paint and the paint process as OE paint shouldn't chip off the hood.

OP, I would have the guy respray the hood to be sure.

funny thing is, it was chipped last week and i made them respray it. It was chipped before it even left the lot. i refused to take it and made them respray it. now there is solvent pop in it and the side/front lips aren't painted 100 percent.

As an example. On our 2008 knock around car, I painted the grille black. Over time the grille had to be repainted again because of chips, actually many, many chips, but the hood has sustained on 1 minor kick.
Paint and quaility of application makes a huge difference.
