At 100 MPH, 1 second = ~150 feet. That's like 5 bus lengths.
Assume:
- A linear average speed for both cars;
- My TL-S at 14.3 sec;
- Your whatever at 15.3 sec.
When I hit the 1/4 mile, you'll be ~86.5 feet behind me. Thats ~5 1/2 car lengths or something like 3 bus lengths; a pretty major ass whipping.
Ever hear of "math"? Try it sometime.

14.46 with lots of wheel hop.
I'm planning on a trip within a month or so and will have some new mods. I would have loved to seen what it would have done with the Innovative Motor mounts in . . .
Anyway, I'll post the results when I do run as I hope to run a very low 14.

I did just have my 2nd tranny replaced this week and got to drive an 08 TL. It felt real peppy and even felt like it had more torque. So I did a couple of 45-70 test run on a little section of road I use to test my 02 TLS. I was really surprised at the results as they were not what I expected.
The 08 TL posted 5.3 and 5.4 seconds and for the 02 TLS . . 3.7 and 3.5 seconds! I had someone with a stop watch (so yes a rider and more weight ) and did 2 runs for some consistency.
I'm really surprised as I would not have guessed there was about 2 secs difference. I can't wait to get to the track if that's the case. I can say the new tranny shifts like shit. Does anyone know what the 08 does in the quarter?

Nice job!!
I am encouraged. I have nearly the same mods. A little weight reduction, improved 60' and good conditions, and I am hopeful I could run 14.1 - 14.2. Dare I wish .... 14 Don't know if I'll have a chance to get out before sping - .
Do you have any suspension mods; lowered? If so, what? What wheels and what size?

as for tires: stock michelin pilots in the rear and general exclaim uhp in the front
UPDATE After Full RV6 bolt-ons
i know i could of ran 13.9 but shifting with automatic sucks with the limiter bcuz i notice that
the perfect shift is at the second red bar right before the limiter but im still satisfied with 14.02

So what was different, mod wise, from the 14.20's @ 99? You had the J and Test pipes then, right?
#130
So were the weather conditions similar? If they were, that means you picked up an honest 2mph from just the pre-cats, which is about what I had been guessing them to be good for. Awesome mod for the $.
#131
^^ An increase of 2mph in the trap speed from just the deletes is awesome. He doesn't even have full exhaust to get the most out of it, which means maybe a full 3-4mph with a FULL exhaust (including jpipe which he already has).
His 60' were very close too making these numbers even more truthful. That timeslip should finally show that the precat deletes do NOT cause a loss in low end when coupled with the jpipe. If it did, I would think the 330' and 1/8th would have been slower, but they were indeed a good deal faster. Good job.

Hey peter, what were the weather conditions like?
What track were you on?
And Impressive numbers for an AUTO TL-S!!!!
how did you manage to get a 2.1 60' foot? My best was a high 2.3..
did u brake-torque by any chance? and are the TL-S auto's LSD as well?

yeah pretty much the same cold and dry @ around 43 degrees and no rain that day

no problem raceway

yea i switch it up sometimes though bcuz i do the burnout so my tires can warm up
it is good to do the brake torque for the first couple runs but after that the tires get so much grip that my car launch slow bcuz the front tires pull the weight of my car( if you watch my youtube vid you can see what im talkin about, just type in tl vs motorcycle)
so after the first couple runs i dont do brake torque unless i feel i have to
believe or not the run i did with the 14.0 was my first run and after that i was just hittin the 14.1 and 14.2
FYI : for good grip on the tires lower the psi when you get to the track( i put mines @ about 33 or 34, it will help depending on the size of your tires you have but not with low profile tires
question: did i break a record for the fastest 1/4 time for a 3g auto tl-s ?
#137
#138
14.0 = Excellent time.
13's are there for you.
I'm getting better tires this week-end. Just Pilot Sport AS, but they'll be TONS better than the MXM4's. I'm sure I can match your 14.2's, maybe a little better.

That's the time you'd get if you do brake torquing. A lot of people don't know about this, even car mags, but if you do brake torque in the new TL SH-AWD, it will automatically starts in 2nd gear, even if you select first gear. Obviously this will cause a delay and slow you down big time. One of our members actually managed to get mid 14's in his TL SH-AWD with the 19" rims. With 17" rims, he got a even faster time. Check the 4G forum.

anyway, I did log them in a file, so for what it's worth here's a look at some runs I made back in May of 2006. I'm really hoping to make another trip in the spring.

Went to the track with my '04 NBP TL 6MT here at the Orlando Speed World last night. First time taking the TL to the track. Only mod is a Fujita CAI on stock Type-S wheels. Temperature was in the high 50's. My second run was the best all night.
60' = 2.395
330 = 6.408
1/8 = 9.585 @ 78.13
1/4 = 14.545 @ 98.10
I was racing my friend with a '07 VW GTI 6MT 2.0T (chipped & full turbo back exhaust).
I barely beat him. His fastest time was a 14.578 @ 96.92.

sweet numbers khaki!!! I wish i had a 6MT =\
For sure you can lower that 60' bu .2 secs with better tires..
SO I have a question.. what's the best street tires to race with? I used to run with the stockies and they were pretty good, got me the 14.7 with just intake alone.
And then I bought some Falken FK452's 245/45/17's for the stockies and went back and only ran a 14.9 with Intake/exhaust.. pretty embarassing. But all I have to say is that those tires stick to the goddam ground like crazy. I got no wheel spin whatsoever... And I felt as if my bottom end was struggling to move, but it was so grippy that it just took off.. I felt better with the stockies that i had on in the previous runs.. I did a very little 1/2 sec. burn out and it just hooked, whereas the FK452's just grip frmo the start with no "hook" feeling if you guys get what i mean.
Anywho. I'm goin back to the track soon with the cool weather and this may be my last time goin to the track and I will be taking off the backseats and rear spare tire, making it as light as possible. Goal is to hit 14.6. I still have the fk452's as well. Let's just hope for the best. I will update before i head to the track, which is like a 2-3 hour drive... =)

Z-Max 3-5-09. ~60 degrees.
14.4 @ ~98 (twice).
Mods: UR Pulley, H&R Sport Springs, ATLP J-Pipe, Progress RSB, Slotted Fronts, ET500 Pads & SS Brake Lines, Fujita F5, P2R Spacer & Gaskets, "Stage 3" Exhaust, Coolant Bypass, Weight Reduction (spare and tool kit, floor mats, OM, misc junk). Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 245/45-17.
Run 1:
Run 2:
Last year, similar conditions, with only Springs, RSB, P2R Spacer and Gaskets and same weight reduction on stock Michelin MXM4 tires I ran 14.37 @ 97.12.
Makes no sense to add those mods and run slower, except that the track was slower (Rockingham vs Z-Max). peternguyen504 ran 14.2x with similar mods and similar car.
BTW - the Page 1 compilation needs to be updated with all the new times/runs.
