But who cares how fast a modded car is.... The Grand Prix GXP bone stock can do high 13's to low 14s. Which for an automatic, is certainly faster than the TL.
But I'd still rather own a TL than a GXP.

I agree, it could run 10's and I wouldnt want a GP over the TL.
I actually had this debate with a few newer guys on the GP site, site numbers basically backed me up. Pulley, intake, u-bend/exhaust work (not headers), is generally good for 13.8-14.3 in the 1/4.
I dont know if you care or have checked but there are a few in the low 10's and I believe a couple have now broken 9's. Impressive for a FWD boat!

the Altima SE-R is still a car i am considering....with the TL. yes the interior isnt as nice as the TL, but the dealer is offering it to me for $26,500....the best i have seen on the TL w/NAV (the only way i want it) is around $32,000....that $5500 has me thinking.
it feels real fast. after driving it feels faster then the TL and the exhaust sounds awsome. but i have to decide if the interior is worth it to me

The contour SVT was a 15.2-15.5 car stock. (5 speed of course)
There were 1 or 2 in the country that pretened to run 14's stock, but if I recall right at least one was discovered to not be stock.
(I had a buddy with one so I was all up in the CSVT at that point)
The SHO can be a quick car, average 5 speed is in the low 15's, however there are some VERY modified ones running around with big single turbos. They're like Supra's though, roll racing queens and dyno queens.

For the 2.5 S sedan they observed 16/30 mpg...16mpg city??? thats a pretty big discrepency. On the plus it takes regular.
They also rated its headlights as poor.
IMPO I find it to be an average car looks wise. Nice and distinctive when it first came out, but it kindof wore off on me unlike the 3G TL which I've always admired. Then again, even the last generation bmw 3 series looked blah to me after awhile.

Guys, one car I looked hard at was a 5.3 GXP Grand Prix. I drove it and it was quite well balanced and sounded great. Unlike the 5.3 liter V8 Impala it is lighter and I copied the Car and Drivers test results which are very good: C/D TEST RESULTS

Zero to 30 mph: 2.1
40 mph: 3.0
50 mph: 4.2
60 mph: 5.7

90 mph: 11.9
100 mph: 14.8
110 mph: 19.0
120 mph: 24.3
130 mph: 30.9
Street start, 5-60 mph: 6.0
Top-gear acceleration, 30-50 mph: 2.6
50-70 mph: 3.8
Standing 1/4-mile: 14.3 sec @ 98 mph

Guy on my site (www.ls1tech.com) went 13.6 with a GXP V8, just had the headlight out I think. I think he made a lot of runs that day. I'm sure the Caliber SRT will be pretty darn quick.

:
I currently have an '03 Altima 3.5 SE fully loaded. The car has been fine during my lease time...lease is almost up. I have had problems with "wind tunnel" sounds though. This car is fast...it's very light and I find that it's not great in snow...I get stuck more often than not (especially on inclines). I test drove an '06 TL this past weekend and was quite impressed with the entire car. I also tested the '06 TSX and was impressed by that as well. A few family members have TL's...2001, 2002, 2005 and all LOVE the car. I will be getting this car (hopefully by the end of the month)! I find that the ride is MUCH nicer than the Altima and the interior is above and beyond the Altima's. I do love the Altima's acceleration...but comfort isn't there, not on long trips anyway. I'm hoping to get out of my lease 6 months early to get the TL. I think the TL is a much better car. IMO

Here's a fast front driver from the past, 1987 Dodge Omni GLH-S. Its a 'tuned by Carrol Shelby' Turbo II Omni GLH producing 175 HP. Back then, the more abbreviated letters you had in the cars name, the faster it went.

They then created the special edition Omni GLH-S. That was an intercooled Turbo putting out 175hp. It only came in the 2 door hatchback with lots of huge graphic lettering on the side. This was a limited production car with less than a few thousand made.
I don't think by today's standards that it could even hold it's own against a 6-spd TL. Cars have gotten a lot faster and tires have improved a lot over the years.

It used to hold it's own against the 5.0 V8 Mustangs at that time (they were about 205hp). The GLH Turbo was that ugly 5 door version and put out 150hp in a car that was about 2100lbs (and it felt like it).
