do a test area...let it dry for a day with whatever combo of paint you're going to do. then make sure it'll peel off and how easily it'll peel off. then you'll know the perfect combo.

my guess is do your 5 solid coats, like in that diy plastidip vid to ensure a nice solid base that WILL peel off in one sheet. Then, do your color...then finish with the clearcoat.

thats what i did when experimenting with a color. Already had 4 good coats on the wheel but did 1 more heavy coat to make sure it peeled right off.

Right...that's the smart move. Unfortunately, any advice we give on color and what looks best will be a guess and subjective. Aaron has to make this happen and let us know what combo gave him the result he wanted.

thanks for the advice everyone. i have picked up some glossy purple and some plum purple.

i'm going to do some test sprays this weekend and see which finish i like better. i dont want them too dark, because they'll get lost against the NBP paint...but i dont want them too light, because i dont want them to look flashy or too matchbox car'ish.

we'll see! i'll post the results and you guys can help me decide which finish to go with.

ok did some test sprays last night.

left is gloss purple, right is plum purple.

it is hard to capture the true colors on my iphone, but the plum is really dark in person and i feel that it would get lost against the NBP paint.

so i'm leaning towards the gloss purple...

thoughts?

here is a picture of my car for reference.
