In-Progress DIY - Lighted Footwells
Swoosh and I have the same car NBP with camel interior. I really like his lighting setup with the blue leds and footwell. So, I bugged him to learn how to do it - more the wiring to the door than anything. Supposed it's probably similar to installing the supercomputer lighted doorsills. But, figured why not have one for this.
First thing is - Swoosh - are these the LEDs from Wal-Mart that you are talking about?

I'll move to the next steps when he responds :-)

That's way too many LED's for subtle footwell lighting. 1 or 2 max- individual LED's for an nice luxury type of footwell lighting. Those strips will give it that club/civic look.
Use either one of these instead:
http://www.oznium.com/prewired-leds
or
http://www.oznium.com/prewired-superflux
I'd use the first one.

Is there an easier way? If I have to rip that part apart - I might as well get the supercomputer lighted sills.

OR tap the light in the glovebox or the center console, it only comes on with the headlights. Simple wire taps with some pre-wired LED's will work like these LED's:
http://www.ledssuperbright.com/1w-le...ide-angle-p-35
Just 2 of those and they should be plenty bright.

1> Always ON: Wire them to Fuse #32 in the fuse box by the drivers foot. This is how I have it....You will bring wires from all around (4 foot wells) and then run the positive to the fuse#32 ACC and the ground to the bolt in that area....Doing it this way the lights will come on when you turn the car on and stay on until you remove your key....
2> KILL SWITCH: This is how I had them LOL. You will run the wires exactly the same way to the same switch but just have a kill switch so you can turn em on/off as and when you want em....
3> DOORS: The easiest of them all since you dont have to run the wires all around....you will wire them to your door switch, just as you did your sills....so the lights will come on when the door opens....
4> PARKING LIGHTS: You can wire them to your Parking lights so that when you turn the lights on, the LED's will go on....I do not recommend this....
Just incase....here is the DIY for the door sills....

You have 3-4 options for the foot well LED's...

Let them hate. I am supporting all the workers in China by buying from Walmart. haha.
I didn't do the door sills but was going to use that FYI to see how to do it.

haha....no
nooo....
No cracks on my dash....
I think thats the reflection of the wire from my radar detector.....LOL...wire comes from behind the dash into the detector....
Yeah if you do the foot well strips and the sills together it will save you a ton of head ache....since you will have to remove some trim pieces to wire the sills and also to bring the wire from the rear foot well strips upfront....

This was one of my first mods-very classy looking-Swoosh can vouch for me!
Since I did mine a few years ago, getting the LED's has become a lot easier. My install was done professionally. But what I can suggest is that if you do the back seat LED's too, mount the LED's under the back seat overhang (above the kick plate of the rear seat).

I need to take some pics, but I actually just wired up some individual blue led's (360 degree ones, from some place that you can order them in bulk from) and soldered on resistors (different ones for different output) and then ran a power from the low beam wire, and grounded it and ran them in parallel from driver to passenger, to rear right passenger to rear left passenger and just tucked the wire between the seats etc...also, ran them off a switch so when I don't want to feel like "club civic" I can turn them off. (Yes, sometimes I feel like it doesn't look that classy, then sometimes I feel like it's tricked out
)

MAX Brightness (+ - ) buttons....in that way i will be able to control the brightness with the Ambient lighting

Floor lighting is really one of the nicest mods!! I still love my setup, white when you open the doors (always) & blue or white selectable with dimming!

^^^that sounds like a great option.
SB, I wish I could remember the led site I ordered from. I ordered a few and they only cost like a buck each and 1 individual bulb is easily bright enough to light up the entire footwell area without being overwhelmingly bright.

ya you don't need much light down there. I usually have mine pretty dimmed down low on blue while driving around , but love the useful white light when getting inside my car.
my favorite led that I've used for all my white interior and floor lighting is the nichia raijin
