Price estimate on hood repaint

Hey guys...now with owning such a nice car as the TL...I was wondering if anybody has gotten their hood keyed and got it repainted? If so, how much was the paint job? I was a victim of a hood scratching a few weeks ago and want to get it fixed.

Well if it isn't bad you might be able to have them buff it out.

It also really depends on color, red and green are the most expensive base colors, by your avatar I would say you have a black TL if so you are luck it should be painted without blending into the fenders (called panel paint) any other color my shop would have to go into the fenders to match the color.... BUT with black no 3 stage paint hood only, $300 and if it went into fenders (color other than black) it would be $450... now if you had a color with 3 stage, special effects toner, or pearl. The paint material would be slightly higher and the labor would stay the same. Hopefully this helps, any cheaper and I do not think you are going to be happy with the work. Good luck

You guys with black TL's are very lucky... when it comes to painting... you don't have to blend as much thus less expensive paint job although it is a lot harder to keep clean BUT when it is clean it does look awsome

You might have better luck finding a hood from a dismantler and you won't have to get it painted in you are lucky.

How much to do the entire car? I have a WDP. If I decide to keep it more than 5 years I figure I'll get it painted. I would probably get it done right with a good high quality pearl white.

If you keep the same color (which you are) it helps out because you don't have to go into the door, hood, trunk jams. Paint is a little more expensize with a pearl 3 stage (a 4 oz. bottle of X7 crushed pearl cost me $200) There is a lot more involved than a Maco job, we detrim the whole car (interor door panels, latches, chrome, hood, trunk lid, bummpers, headlights, tail lights, mirrors, and more) NO TAPE LINES!! The cheaper the paint job the more parts they leave on the car and more tape they use, every tape line is potentially a spot that can start to peel. Ok to do a paint job drive in as is $4500 and that includes a lifetime warranty (as long as YOU own the car) Now if you have any mechanical knowledge and want to detrim the car yourself it will drastically lower the price. That $4500 has 75hrs in it to detrim, prep, paint, install all trim, and buff it to a shine. Now if you detrim it it will lower the price more than 1/3. Well I hope I didn't scare you too much, but this should give you a good idea

Oh yea I have had customers detrim everything and just have the car towed in, no headlights and such
