poor gas mileage on very first tank..?
this question has probably been answered, but I don't know what key words to search for...so I'm probably reposting..
is it just me, or does the first tank of gas have really poor gas mileage? thanks in advance for input..

Did you read the average mpg on the MID, or did you compute it yourself by dividing the miles driven by the gallons you put in the car. If you computed it yourself, remember the dealer probably doesn't really fill the tank all the way, but just puts enough in so the gage looks like it is full. This would cause your mpg to read low.
Check your MID as you drive and you should get an accurate reading of current miles per gallon.

I'm on my third of fourth tank now and I'm still only getting an average of 18mpg on my car. It has 1600km (1000miles) on it... hopefully, it's going to get better. So judging by my experience, your low mileage is to be expected on a new car.

i'm on my second tank now. on the first one, i was driving in city traffic for first half of the tank and it 18 mpg and 16 mph after that i took a 150 mile highway trip and my average went to 23 or 24 mpg and the average speed was like 25 or 26. now i'm back to city driving and i drove maybe less then 20 miles so far on my second tank and i get 18 mpg again.

'04 6MT---- 1st tank mileage was around 18mpg. Now I'm at 1K miles and getting consistant 26-28mpg. I have to admit I was a little concerned at first. Follow Acura's break-in recommendations, and enjoy.
