Pittsburgh Dealers

Does anyone have any negative or positive to share about their service department experiences at either the Smail or Baierl Acura dealers here in Pgh? I'm considering buying a TL but am not sure where to buy. Anything you can share is appreciated.

I had a horrible time trying to buy my TL. I started with Snail, cause my friend knew someone there that could get me a good deal. Well, this kid knew nothing, and he strung me along for four weeks telling me he could get me a NBP w/navi and ebony interior. A hard enough car to find. I needed this car by a certain date because I was changing jobs and did not own a car since my previous job provided rentals . This kid knew this, and said he would have that car or one in anthracite (which is cool too). Well with 3 weeks to go he says he can't get me either car. I'm in Boston at the time and need this car in 3 weeks cause I'm driving to Texas for the new job. Here is where Bairel and Spitzer Acura (In Washington County) enters the picture. I called the both of them, Spitzer told me they had one in Anthracite and I thought "Hell, I'll see if Bairel has a NBP". So I call Bairel, and they tell me "Yes we can get you one, we'll have one on order and it will be here xx days before you need to leave" Ok sweet I think, I call my Dad in Butler and tell him to drive down there and give them a deposit. He does so. Now a week and a half before I need to leave for Texas he calls and says "Hey we can get you one by July 11". I found out later this is what they call 'Taking the customer out of the market" they promise you things and they can't make due. Under any other circumstances this would have been fine but I needed the car by June 16. So I called Spitzer back and the Anthracite one they had, was sold. So I got screwed by Bairel and Snail. I was very upset about it, I got my deposit back from Bairel though.

I guess a bunch of NBPs were going to be made at the end of June (this was back in 04). So I put a deposit on one down in Houston and decided I would fly down, and rent a car. Well I got a call 4 days before I had to leave, and it was Spitzer Acura saying they had the Antracite one cause the original customer backed out (they knew how badly I needed a car).

In conclusion Spitzer saved the day, I told them to strap a spoiler on, and I'd be down in an hour. They had that thing ready to go, and I was in and out under 30 minutes. And they showed me all the cool shit it does. If you're wondering I got it for 35,500 and that includes navi, wheel locks, spoiler, trunk tray, full bra, and mud flaps.

I never found out why the guy backed out, but thanks dude wherever you are, you saved my life.

On another note though, Bairel is GREAT with warrenty stuff. My brother ripped the seat on his CL, and they replaced it no questions asked. Bairel is a good dealer, but I had better luck at Spitzer.

Gillman Acura in Houston IS A NIGHTMARE. That's another story though.

I was told by Baierl that it was an honor or some bull like that to drive an Acura so they would not budge on the price (Idiot Internet Sales Manager) and that it was a hassle to order a TL (Black, camel interior, 6 speed). Hard to believe, but with only two dealers in the area, I assume a lot of people bend over. Went down to Spitzer and they were pretty cool to deal with, got the TL ordered without a problem. I recommend Spitzer, the Service department is pretty solid, although everytime they wash my car, I see a new mark on it, so I pass on the free wash. Baierl is in a high traffic area so they show it, Spitzer is the opposite, so you should be able to get a good deal. Same counts for Service..

Pittsburgh dealerships as a whole are great with pricing but not so great with service. I suggest getting a little friendly "limbo" competition going between the dealerships. How low can you go???? haha.

I actually had a personally bad experience with Baierl in terms of pricing.. They wanted 37k OTD for navi.. so basically 34.8k plus tax.. This is for a 05 SSM with nav and they told me they never had the need to go lower..So anyone else bought from them and got lower? I was trying for 31-32k.. And this was just recently, when the new 06s were coming.. I think I might try spitzer and smail or whatever
