Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S
Who has them? Do you like them? Tire rack seems to love them but how are they on the 04. Better or worst then the Michelins A/S. Please weigh in.

I saw a review on Tirerack from someone who said he had them on his 2004 TL. He said they sucked. He put less than 200 miles before writing that review. I hear these are among the best tires but you have to wear off the factory film before they really start to shine. To do this, you can drive aggressively for the first 50 miles or normally for 300 miles. During this "break in" period, the tire's performance might suck but after the conditioning, I heard they are superb all-weather tires. I'm getting mine soon and will post an actual review then.

I think somebody on this forum has them. Is it rkillian? I don't recall...

I have these tires and I love them compared to the stock tires. The michelins are great tires as well but I am not sure I would spend the extra $280 for a set over the Pirellis. I would certainily get the 245s over the 235s if I had it to do over again. The 235s allow the rim to stick out more then I like.

Why 245 vs 235? With 17" wheels, what is the diameter diff and any reprograming required? DC expecting some ugly stuff tonight, so I may be unable to wait for the bean counters to pull their heads out.

Thanks. Shoped the P Zero and Pilot A/S's...ultimately went w/the A/S's because of $80/tire offer for the EL 42s. Wimped out and stayed w/235...maybe next time I'll move a size bigger.

I love the P Zero's. Althought I never got a chance to experience any inferior tires on the TL. I was glad to have had them mounted the night before I took delivery, because there was about an inch of snow on the ground. The P Zeros have the traction for poor weather, they are quiet, and look nice on the TL.
I got the 235's, but after what I am reading here, I would have liked to have gotten the 245's. I was not aware they would fit.

MarkItZero - Thanks for the pics.
They look good - Have more of a square look vs the "to small for rim" action. Doesn't look like they have a rim protector ridge though? Are they bi-directional?
Thanks again

No rim protection. I think they are bi. I can feel the 10mm width difference. I think it helps with the torque steer, and provides a more solid feeling all around.

Hi MarkItZero:
Your car looks good with 245/45/17. I went to the local tire shop and they recommended 245/40/17 if I want to go with 245. So, what is your opinion on this? Do you expect there will be significant differences in terms of performance and look if I choose one over another? I will keep stock 17" wheel and have Falken Azenis ST115 on my TL. Please tell me your overall experience with 245/45/17?
Thanks.

obviously, with the 40 aspect ratio, you will have less tire. I wish I would have done that, I think it would look better.
I have no complaints with the P Zero in the size I am running. It handles good and it got around in the 6 inch snowfall we had in KC.
The Pirelli's are smooth and quiet.

TO chadr, SEARCH is not working now, anyone saved the link before? Thanks.
It's easy for us to discuss this case...
I copied it from tirerack.com
Vehicle: 2004 Acura TL
Location: Poway, CA
Driving Style: Average
Miles driven on tires: 200 Driving Condition: Combined Highway/City
Reviewer's Overall Ratings: 6.00 out of 10
Review Submitted 2003-12-14
I upgraded to the (dealer accessory) 18" rims on the 2004 Acura TL -- BAD IDEA! After trying several other brands of tires -- Yokohama AVS ES100 and Yokohama AVS dB S2s (best 18" tire for the TL), I selected the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S based in large part on the excellent tirerack.com reviews of this tire. This tire is absolutely incompatible with the front wheel drive Acura TL. The tire suffers from severe tramlining -- on the freeway, my car wandered all over the road. The tire also causes a torque-steer like phenomenom, when decelerating rapidly, or going over bumps and dips at low speeds. The noise level is high, but the ride comfort is good. 2004 Acura TL owners with 18" rims -- avoid this tire like the plague!
