Talking Picked up my 2004 TL tonight!!!!

Finally picked up my Abyss Blue Pearl 2004 TL 5 MT non navi tongiht. If it wasn't for the bumper to bumper traffic on the Gardiner Expressway I could have had a great drive on the freeway. However, the rest of the way home was amazing! This car is soooo quiet and fast. The ride is smooth yet the handling is firm. Exactly what I was hoping it to be. The stereo's sound is the best I've heard, can't wait to get a few DVD-A's soon to really hear the stereo at it's best. I am soooo happy I bought this car!!!!

Congrats. I am promised my SSM/Ebony/Navi on November 15th. Can't wait. Which dealer did you buy from if you don't mind me asking. I am getting mine from Sherway. Post some photos if you can. Did they give you a demo DVD-A?

00TLOwner, I bought my car from Sherway Acura as well. The salesman was a guy named Sean Reid. Really nice guy. Everything went very smoothly. I will post pics once we get some nice weather. They include two demo DVD-A, an English and a French one. The sound is great, you can really tell the difference between the CD and DVD-A sound. Now I want to get all my CD's replaced with DVD-A's.

TorontoTL,

You mentioned that you thought the stereo was the best you have ever heard. Are you referring to the stereo in general, or specifically your DVD-Audio experience? Some have commented that the stereo doesn't perform as well as it should when listening to other sources (CD, XM, FM, etc.). I am hoping that these people are being overly critical. What's your opinion?

Congrats, Toronto! Welcome to the club.

gwempose--the stereo sounds great with XM and CDs, better than the old stereo. I'm not a finicky stereophile, but I know the system in this car beats the POS Bose system in the old TL. Bass is better, sound is overall clearer on non DVD-A music.

does the 2004 TL stereo system play Super Audio CD's as well? I'm just wondering cause there's more Super Audio CD's available than there are DVD-A's (or at least SACD's have the music that I'm looking for).

I'm more than happy with the stereo. We don't even get XM radio here in Canada and so far I've found that the sound and reception are better than in my old 2000 TL. Now I personally find that the sound quality is far superior to other stereos that I've heard. Now those who are into really heavy heavy base may be a bit disappointed if that's what they're looking for. I find that the sound is very balanced and clean and rich. Not boomy style bass that I personally don't perfer.

I'll try to get pics this weekend if it doesn't rain. Drove to work this morning and didn't want to get out of the car.

DVD-a's

If you want some dvd-a's in Canada I ordered a bunch from amazon.com (NOT amazon.ca). They ship to Canada VERY quickly ( 2 days for my last order) and I have never had a package stopped at customs. Plus with the strong Canadian dollar one I was looking at here was $38 + taxes and I bought the same disc for $13 there. Shipping was cheap and they avoided UPS and FedX who add in their brokerage and customs charges, it comes express mail. I hear the new Tubular Bells dvd-a being released Nov 24th is quite good.

total lack of treble

my only gripe with the audio is a major lack of treble.. it's very muted on XM, FM, and some CD's.. no brightness at all.

the DTS 5.1 sampler cd I got now, sounds brilliant, so I guess it's all in the power of the programming.

I had XM in another car that I mod'd the stereo in to excruciating treble, and it was still muted so I think the compression scheme that XM uses is pretty extreme and kills a lot of clarity.

Otherwise it does kick @$$ of the the Blose system, makes that system downright pathetic.

Cept of course for my rattling back dash.. grrr.. just another damn trip back to the shop for my 1 month old 04..

Darn, it's raining today here in Toronto, go my baby dirty for the first time. I can't believe how much everyone loves this car at my workplace. Took it to work the first time today. The guys here drive cars like 2004 Merc S600, 2003 BMW 330 Ci, Lexus E330. There were really really impressed with the car. Not only the styling which they thought was hot both inside and out, but also the quality of the whole car. When I first told them I was getting a new TL to replace my old one they were really underwhelmed. Now they think it is soooo damn hot.

I haven't seen a single new TL on the roads of Toronto yet, anyone other posters here from Toronto in their new TL's yet?

Where did you get this CD? Was it free, or did you pay for it? Now that I think about it, I wonder if it's possible to burn a copy of a DTS CD? Anyone know?

Boringegg, how was Acura Markham, were they good to deal with? Did they give you a good deal on the TL. I did love the white too, but my last TL had the parchment interior and didn't want to get another one with that interior colour. Although it is a luxurious looking combination in my opinion.

My Uncle just got a white/parchment 5MT. It looks sweet! The only thing I worry about is if the leather will start to show dirt over time. It just seems very light to me. In fact, this is one of the reasons I am leaning toward the ebony interior when I buy my SSM. Also, the ebony interior just seems to contrast better with the silver paint than the quartz. Just my 2 cents.

I am from Kingston but I am getting my silver/ebony navi TL from Acura East. I just changed my order today from non navi to navi. I asked how many cars they had received. They only have about 6 or 8 cars. Two are 6MT and one of those was sold today. There is one left for you Toronto guys who are interested.

torontoTL, v ordered it when it was the third day after the new TL came to showroom..so v coulnd't bargain for a good price. v could only get a free spashguard..haha... however, my parents traded in our 97 pathfinder for 12000 (w/o tax). the pathfinder had around 96000 clicks on it..so i thought v got a pretty good deal....
bty, did u get the all season floormat?

My 2004 TL

I bought the weathertech all season mats as they are actually cheaper and much better at holding all the slush and water we will get in the winter. I may have to cut them just a bit I think because the throttle is now hinged at the bottom so the mat will likely need to be shortened at that location.

Here's a picture I took of my baby in the rain today. All we've had is rain.

It does play DTS audio discs. There are many of those as well. You get 5.1 descrete channelks of audio. Just not the high resolution (i.e. 24bit/96-102 Khz.

Wow that would suck to have to drive your car for the first time in the rain.

Yes in Canada we do get the DRL's but because of that we don't get the fogs which would be in place of the DRL's.

It does handle well in the rain though.

Does anyone know if the headlights automatically come on when you turn your wipers on?

Good luck finding any discount in Canada and good luck also in finding a navi before next year! You can get a discount on the extras which is basically the same thing that is if you want extras.

I don't think there is any connection between the wipers and the headlights.
