Philips 6000k Ultinon Bulbs
Ok so I want to replace my 4300k bulbs with 6000k bulbs. From what I can tell by searching everyone recommends the Philips. I am wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives other than the Philips bulbs that are still good quality? I see a ton of other bulbs on ebay, are they ALL crap?

KAIXEN is another inexpensive high quality HID replacement bulb as mentioned above.
We have info on them here:

So yes. Philips are not as bright, but they are pure, have more lumens and last longer, but then again you are paying almost twice for them..
I only stick to two brands. Philips or Xetronic. Kaixen is a great bargain, go for it, you don't have much to lose.
Since I drive a long distance on dark roads, I hated Kaixen with a passion, As I couldn't see miles ahead, and on curvy roads I felt blind. But that's me.. Most say they see everything just right... denial?
Again, for bargain, Kaixen.
If you care more for life and output, steer towards German or Japanese engineering. Just my opinion, which does not matter much, now, does it

theres 2 guys on ebay selling the ultinons and both are extremely reliable..... ive dealt with both of them and never a prob.....i will in no way knock Ex's brand because ive seen them and they work great... i just prefer something closest to OEM.....ive burnt ballasts like no tomorrow with chinese bulbs on many cars so some cars seem to have either faulty ballasts or nothing other than oem replacements work. everything in the car including the lighting was calculated very precisely so if its off by 1ohm of resistance it can cause something to go bad.... the brand that Ex sells has a very good rep amongst a lot of forums and ive done quite a few installs using them and i havent had one return for bulb or ballast replacements

IMO 6000k looks best on 99.9% of cars.... i have the windshield tinted 20% and when i turn on the fogs its like a whole new world illuminates...MAINLY because its a reflector putting the light out so theres more glare therefore more light (in a way).... the OEM bulbs dont give out as much light because its encased in a projector so the light is "compressed" and output differently....plus u are less likely to get pulled over and either get ticketed or bitched at by a cop about light colors. Oh and lets not forget about GE.....they make really good bulbs too.

Well I decided to give the Kaixens a try since they are only $100 from a vendor on here and see if I like them. If I am not satisfied, I figure I can sell them and buy the Philips. I live smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles and can't remember the last time I drove on a road that wasn't lighted, so the look is more what I am going for. Obviously high light output is preferred, but if the Kaixens do a decent enough job I will keep them. Thanks everyone for all of your help and opinions.

I have an array of D2R, D2S and D2C bulbs.. I went thru all of them. I'm very picky and I demand most lumens with the whites light with a slight blueish hue.

Which HIDS Phillips or Kaixen (or power 6k.-8.5k) can I get that shows up in a longer, wider distance, along with a nice amount of blue in it?

I drive in dark roads and want the greatest amount of light. I dunno why, but my brothers TSX HIDS are amazing. He got the car like that, I thought they were stock bulbs but everyone is telling me that the TL HIDS are better, but his look so much better. He did buy the car pre-owned maybe someone put better HIDS in it maybe?

I recently purchase a 04 TL and let my wife drive my 04 TSX. My god TSX HID is sOOO much better then TL.
Is this normal? or something wrong with my car? Will upgrade lightbulb help much? I want it as white as possible and as bright as possible so I can see the road.

Quoted from the headlight god in another thread.
Your cut off isnt sharp because stock 04-05 TSX have clear lenses for projectors where as stock TLs have fresnel lenses.
If you want sharper cut off then you would need to replace the projector lenses with ZKW or Replica ZKW lenses.
If you want better/bright light then you want a new set of Phillips 85122+ bulbs rather than regular 85122 bulbs.
85122 bulbs and stock Osram 66404 bulbs colorshift and loose their intensity over their life, new they are rated at 3200 lumens and after color shift they are anywhere from 2600~2800 lumens.
the 85122+ are rated to be 3400 lumens when new and tend not to color shift.
Another thing, if you are looking for color then these are not for you , since they are rated at 4200k and the color would stay like that for good.

Actually, they are both products of German engineering.
Kaixen HID kits were first sold using Philips/Matshushita ballasts and bulbs starting in 1999. In 2002, Kaixen recieved its own license and hired several key engineers from Germany to develop its own high quality ballasts and bulbs. KAIXEN is also the only other company other than Philips to develop the diamond-cut bulbs. Kaixen is ISO2001 registered, E13 certified, and KQA quality assurance certified. In fact I have a CD full of copies of licenses, certifications, etc for the KAIXEN factory.
So yes KAIXEN is located in Korea but it's German engineering.

Dont get me wrong, i love 6000k and have been running them for over a year now. But....
Im making the change from 6000k to 4200k Philips 85122+ 3400 lumen bulbs (no color change/loss of itensity over life as mentioned above). I'm pairing these with ZKW lenses as well as a hybrid 04-05 with 0-08 projector housing to give them a blueish color along the DOT-Step cutoff along with one of the sharpest cutoffs possible in the automotive world.

The seller seems to know his stuff and yes the boxes, even from HIDplanet use to say 85122 on them but the bulbs were 85122+.
I took some pictures of a few bulbs that I have with me

Just an old trusted Nikon Coolpix S7c, I take many close up shots of parts as you can see from a few other threads so over the years have learned how to take better pictures with just a PnS camera. These particular pictures were taken with ISO being at 50, Micro on and camera was mounted on a tripod.
