Paintless Dent Repair DIY?

Not sure where to post this so i am going to try it here. I found a dent in the door line right above the side skirts. The metal is pretty thick so obviously some idiot slammed there door on mine, not matter how hard I try to avoid it. I searched on the web and found this. I seems to work good for a flat surface, not sure how it'll work on the door line. Has anyone tried doing it themselves?

you can try heating up the surface, then spray a bottle of dust-off upside down then wait for it to pop back out. dont know if any of these works, but theres a vid on youtube

The heating and spraying works for bigger dents from what i see. What I am concerned about is whether it'll pull the door flat instead of a line like it was, if you know what i mean.

when i did PDR on my friends front bumper and rear bumper, i just used a heat gun and a spray bottle with cold water. it came out perfect.you just need to keep your hand on the spot till it cools so it doesnt just pop back in. the reason for dry ice is so it cools alot faster

I tried the hair dryer + dust-off, twice, and it didn't work. I guess it's because the dent is too small or the location of the dent making it difficult. Someone has to tried something right? The door line is the most outward spot of the door I am sure I am not the only one that has it.

I had the beamer for 3+ years and only ding I had was on the fender after more than 2 years. It's only been 2 months with this one.

That I know, except I don't like the idea of them taking off the door trim. it's actually really small but still it's there.

it really depends on the grade of the metal used in the panels too... alot of those cheaper cars have thinner fenders and such IIRC.

I could get you a number as long as that is allowed. Suggesting outside people for work isn't breaking any rules right? I am having mine done soon.

Does anybody have experience with pdr in areas where the body/panel has a factory body line or crease (ie, not completely flat)?

I have a door ding in my rear fender but it's right in the body line that follows the wheel opening. Hard to explain but there is about a 3/4" "band" that goes around the wheel opening and the dent crosses the edge of that "band". I think this is similar situation to what the OP is talking about.

Interesting. For a few bucks, the dry ice is worth a shot. PDR wanted $160 for the four small dings in one of my doors...think I'll try this...it can't hurt.

Oh, and the music in the first video is beyond horrible.

I tried the hair dryer and dust off trick on a door ding on my MDX. It didn't work for shit.

I even repeated the steps 2 more times to no avail...

That video doesn't convince me. For all I know there was someone inside pushing it out from the back.

Another local forum I used to belong to....would have a Dent Day. Locate a good dent guy and get a bunch of cars, have him knock'em out at a discounted price in a day.

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-3fq...ents_with_ice/\

"We have seen those amazing videos on YouTube and elsewhere that show dents being removed with dry ice and CO2 spray, which got us quite excited. So we thought we'd give it a go.

Unfortunately we haven't yet got any results that would make it worth attempting. The best we have seen is a percentage improvement. Going back to the videos that so impressed us to see if we were doing anything wrong, we realized that if you look closely, you can see that they didn't completely remove the dents either.

We think it may have a place in dent removal, but it's not likely to put the paintless dent removal technicians out of business any time soon."
