True Dat. I love the new Accords, but though the TL's are based on the same frame, and the safety is near the same, to me, that is where the similarities end.

....point of the thread is that the platform is shared. (ref: 'Overpriced Accord')

The 350Z comes in a 2 seater Coupe, or convertible. The G35 comes in a 2+2 Coupe, or 4 door sedan. So they can't possibly step on each others toes.
Some could argue that the TL and Accord offer similar configurations, as they are both 4 door sedans, etc. And I know of a certain person on this board, who has gone on a rampage about why the Accord is better than the TL, but we don't need to go there.
However, before anyone flames me, I did say earlier, that I still think there is plenty of differentiation between the Accord and TL. The TL is sportier, and much sexier. I personally find the Accord Sedan, to be butt ugly all around. The Coupe though, I think looks good from the behind...
The Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable share practically everything except for the front grill... But anyone remember when there was a Dodge Neon and Plymouth Neon? The only thing differentiating those two cars, was the hood ornament.

To add:
The G35, FX, M35/M45, Z, all use the same platform, but they all use a different variation of the platform. The wheelbase is different in each car, for example.
Honda does this too, as the shared platform, comes in three sizes. Small=TSX, regular = TL, and large=RL. However, I think the Accord and TL are based on the same platform variation.
But all this is moot, as the cars are really tuned for different characters. If anything, the only exception would be perhaps the Accord Coupe. I think that would have stepped on the toes of the 3.2CL, but that car doesn't exist anymore.

The 6 cylinder was the same J30 V6 as the sixth generation's, but its intake runners, exhaust, and headers contributed to a 40 horsepower (30 kW) increase."
