There's always a buddy. I think you must of saw the paperwork wrong. Last time a I checked the dealership is there to make a profit.

I would think 33k -34k is about the cheapest you could ever get. And that would be in an extremely competitive market with Acura dealers sitting on top of each other where the dealers sell Acuras like most Honda dealers sell their cars in any other place.

So you traded a 2007 TL-S for a 2008 TL-S? Why? It's the exact same car.

People need to understand that the dealer has much less than invoice in a car.

As of Feb 2008 Acura was offereing 2k factory to dealer cash on an invoice price of about 35k for the Type-S.

33k being the rock bottom price unless the dealership REALLY wants to lose money bad they might drop it AT MOST another 1k.

After taxes lets say 7% (NJ) you looking at an additional $2,300 +tags +fees

All of these number include the destination charge btw.

So I suppose it could be possible if the dealership is dumb and wants to lose 1k (maybe they need to move cars) you could get it for 34k-ish. I doubt it though. I think someone forgot to add tax/tags.

Well, the TL is due for a "makeover"..........the 09's are coming soon. So, dealers are willing to negotiate on the TL/TSX/RL..........all due for new models.
Slow economy = Better Deals

I still find it hard to believe that a dealer would sell a TL Type S for a LOSS of $1,000 or so.

I agree!

I was just making an example that if they did then some of those prices people quoted could have been possible.

Hows the weather out there in the west, VEGAS? I am moving out to AZ soon.

I just got back home from a dealership in Northern Virginia with my brand new 2008 NBP TL-S. I got it for $33,117 + TTD. OTD was just over $33,500.

Wow you have really low taxes. Here in Oklahoma we pay $37 for a tag, $100 for title, plus 3.5% excise tax. You would of paid $1335 in TTL here. Most people just pay the TTL separately at the tag agency within 30 days of purchase as it's kind of stupid to roll that into the price of the loan.

rwalters--

Today (saturday) it is gonna be 79 and sunny!! Leaving in a few minutes to go play 18 holes.

The "out the door" prices are WICKED. Seriously. I LEASED my 08 Type S, and I feel I got a GREAT deal AT INVOICE ($35,832).
****There was $2,000 incentive for a PURCHASE, so that would be $33,832 + tax!

I just don't see HOW these deals can be happening.............but good for them!!

The closer we get to the end of production run, the better the deals will be. Acura gives some unpublised incentives to the dealer. Don't feel or believe that they are losing money, it ain't gonna happen.

The deal you got last month or last year was a good deal then but that's history. As the car sales and the economy continue to decline, car prices will do the same. Gas going up like crazy doesn't help either.

My point, don't hate cause somebody got a deal you could not get a little while back.

The D is for Destination charge...whatever that is. Oh and VA taxes aren't low. In my excitement, I fat-fingered the price. The OTD price should have said $35,500. Sorry about that.

Are you sure you didn't fat finger any of other numbers? J/K. Great deal if true. That's just a little more than I got my 06 for 2 years ago.

I don't think any of these replies from Aziners are malicious or hateful...........actually, just the opposite. I AM GLAD people are getting DEALS from Acura Dealers on TLs right now.
In my case........I leased my 08 TL Type S in December, and I FEEL THAT I GOT A GOOD DEAL.

If I were to have PURCHASED the TL Type S instead.........I would be a little upset. The reason being is that my BRAND NEW CAR is losing value very fast!!

This is why I lease.

I hope you are OK.........and I hope you leased!! Wow. That sucks, bro. 3 months, then got totalled..........if you financed the Type S, then I am sure you were "upside down" in it.

Well I just started shopping for a new car yesterday. Test drove the TL-S and the IS 250. I've driven the G35x before but going to check that out one more time.

Anyway dollar for dollar I think the TL-S is what I will be grabbing. I had planned to wait till end of April/May to buy but does anybody know anything about how long the 2k cash back from dealer is supposed to last on purchase?

Seems like it may be worth purchasing ahead of time in March if It's sitll going on.

Also anybody bought a TLS in the tri-state area recently? What are you getting for the car and OTD?

Nice thing about the dealer I dealt with yesterday is that have rental service while under warranty.

The MSRP on the 08 TL Type S (w/o summer tires) should be $38,940.00
THE INVOICE on this car is $35,832.00
IF YOU ARE GOING TO PURCHASE.........take OFF (-) $2,000 (Acura to Dealer CASH)
**Acura to Dealer CASH has been running since December..............NO idea when it will end.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So.......you SHOULD BE AROUND $33,832.00 (OR LESS) + Tax/Tag/Title/Fees

You MIGHT be able to do better........maybe $33,300 - $33,500 if the DEALER is SITTING on a bunch of TLs.
Try to get some FREE OIL CHANGES, Window tint, upgraded floor mats, etc. in the deal, too!

Good Luck!!!

On another note...

Man, you guys should negotiate still even though those are "internet" quotes. I'm sure they have a cushion so don't just give in. Also to those that are still in the market, it's only MARCH! If you hold out for say another 6 months, I'm sure you can even get a better deal!!

You know it's funny I'm in sales but sometimes I forget to ask about the freebies thrown in. If I can grab a tl for 33.5 or so I guess I'll be jumping sooner. I've been thinking about waiting until Memorial day to see if they have financing specials. My luck though if I did wait they will stop the cash back.

Sigh well at least it's a good time to be in the market. Guess towards the middle of this month I'll start popping in on the dealer and see what kind of deal they will offer for a blue TL-S.

DO THE INTERNET QUOTE route first!! Shoot off an email to SEVERAL dealers out of your area.........BUT within driving distance.

Don't be too specific about color.......keep it simple, like this:

"Hello, I am interested in a 2008 Acura TL Type S (auto/manual) and I was wondering what your BEST PRICE would be? I am looking to take delivery by the end of the month. Let me know, so I can try to decide between the Infiniti G35, Lexus IS350 and Cadillac CTS. These are the other vehicles I am going to test drive. Thanks!! Have a GREAT DAY."

You know where I am coming from...........once you get a QUOTE, then ask about color combinatios on their lot. GOOD LUCK!! BEAT EM UP GOOD!!

Oh I'll do that the only downside is that there really is only one dealer I can buy from or should anyway. They are the closest dealer and only one who truly offers rental when in for service. I can't afford to be without a car so thats a must have.

I definitely recommend doing the Internet quote first. In fact, check out www.buyingacar101.com. It'll walk you through the entire car buying process so that you can get the best deal. Most people won't follow each of the tips listed, but even if you follow a couple, you should still get a pretty decent deal.
