Old user, new car
hey guys, i have been on this site years ago posting in the first gen CL section. I have been gone for a few years and am now back!
i have a 545i and im looking for another sedan. These TL's interest me greatly, but i would like to know of common problems that have come up throughout the years from owners.

The biggest issue is the dashboard. Granted, there is a class action lawsuit at the moment to get those fixed.
Besides that, I don't think there is any major problems that can't be fixed without a little maintenance.
Transmission has been known to have problems in the 04-05, but if you change the 3rd/4th gear solenoids every 60k miles along with changing the transmission fluid too a better... less FM fluid you should be fine. Engine is like any Honda engine as it runs smooth. Gas mileage is good if you don't get heavy wheels or don't get heavy on your foot on the pedal. Expect 30 MPG highway along with 18 MPG city due to the aerodynamics of the car and the curb weight of the vehicle. Leather isn't the strongest, but with proper maintenance it will look good. Navigation is a must just because of the 'hacks' and modifications.
The 545i is a more powerful, more gas consuming, bigger, and higher maintenance car as the TL(-s) is a less powerful, less gas consuming, slightly smaller, and less maintenance car. At the end of the day, the TL is still the best bang for buck car available even if the car was sold new today for 30k (with some slight upgrades of course).
