Your dealer's parts dept should have some lying around. Give them a try.

Sounds like another dealer money making scheme... Take the left over plugs from the new car prep folks, put em in a Ziploc bag and ask $40 for the pair....

Bastards....

I got my first set on ebay but the color didn't match (WDP). Ended up getting another set from Acura of Escondido. I thought these were throw away parts but indeed do sell them as genuine parts all packaged in the Acura Plastic bag.

I went through the exact same thing. I talked to my sales person and he got me a few plugs. He said they were installing some license brackets and he just took those for me.

contacted AofE. Thanks for the lead...

Is Martin the older white part guy @ Rosenthal? I think he's the one quoted me the price. He seems nice though...

I will check with him again Thursday. I hope the 06 ASM plugs look ok with 05 SSM bumper.

Thanks all!

I had exactly the same issue. Finally, when I went to the dealer instead of calling, the sales manager pulled a couple from the package in one of the cars on the lot and apologized for the inconvenience.

I mentioned that our cars should have come with them to begin with. I also mentioned how other dealers put them in glovebox.

update...

went there again today and the prick behind the counter just won't do a thing to find a set of silver plug for me.

I then went to see Arthur, my salesperson. He will find me a set and call me back.

Too much suckage for getting a couple of plugs that should originally come with the car.

Leedog is right...most of the dealers pop them off and put them in the glovebox. In IL, the car dealers are required to take them off and put a license plate mount. I called my salesguy the day after I bought my '05 and asked him to send me a set. He went back to the parts counter and said there was a drawer full of them, every color.

If you do decide to get them off another car ... a normal flat head won't do it. Take a sharp knife with a very pointed tip to pry it out of the bumper of the car your jacking it off.

kenny see if you can talk to one of the service guys. I was throwing a fit at the rear parts counter when a service guy overheard me, went away and came back 5 mins later with a set.

Final update

yeah... got a voice mail from my salesperson, Arthur. He found a ASM that just came in and took its bumper plugs for me. I just picked them up.

It's incredible that the parts dept wants to charge me almost 20 for one of them. That's ridiculous.

Anyways, thanks goes out to Arthur from Rosenthal Acura!

BTW:

Radley Acura (Falls Church, VA) - I asked them for a set and they asked for my address and told me that they would send me some. Sure enough - 3 days later I got a letter in the mail with like 3 sets of ssm bumper plugs.

Yes, the MSRP is only $12.95, but the logic in the dealer counter parts pricing model using inflates parts purchased by a considerable margin. I researched several small items I purchased (i.e. Honda Urea grease, Hondabond gasket sealer, etc.) and found I was overcharged based on MSRP by ~40%. I called and complained and was refunded the difference. It happened on two seperate occasions and I don't believe it's isolated to me or this particular dealership. I now order almost everything online or if I'm forced to get something in a hurry (i.e. starter) I research the online price from Sunnyside Acura (http://www.acuraparts247.com) to know what the max I should pay in advance. I also cross shop the Acura part #'s on one of the Honda online parts stores (i.e. SLHondaparts.com) to see if any Honda use the same part. If so, I can get 20% at a my local Honda dealer, so for many normal items (i.e. oil filters, wheel studs) you can get at a Honda dealer and avoid acuras markup altogether. YMMV.

i cant find mine in the car. i checked in the glove compartment and in the trunk..nothing. so i went to the kearny mesa acura dealer (i bought my car in escondido) and they were being such punks about it..and saying.."oh i can't just give it to you, you have to buy it from me, or get them where you bought the car" but dude..ti's the same fucking dealer.i dont see what the big deal is? is there any other way of getting them without having to drive all the way to escondido for it, or even paying for it?

They are not really the same dealership. Kearny Mesa Acura will not price match parts from Acura of Escondido. I tried doing that with the A-Spec body kit. Looks like you'll have to drive up to Escondido or order them else where.

Call your salesman

Call the guy you bought the car from and tell him that he forgot to give them to you. I'm sure someone on the sales team or the sales manager will have a stack of them in his/her desk. Someone at the dealership keeps all of those things for cases exactly like this. If you're nice, they may even mail them to you.

I had the same problem, i was looking for those plugs after i removed the front LP and when i went to the dealer to get my oil changed, they threw on a set for me, free of charge
they couldn't have been in the trunk cuz all my fire gear was back there and they wouldn't be able to take out the plugs without taking out my gear first and my gear was untouched
