Oil life in 2005 Acura TL
Something interesting I've noticed today: whenever I put 1000km on my car (which is approx. 600 miles....ah well...I am Canadian) oil life is always 10% less.
I am at 2500km and MID shows 80% and I bet as soon as I get to 3000km
MID will display 70%.
What algorithm is used by our cars to calculate oil life?
Thanks

The engine oil life is calculated based on engine operating conditions and accumulated engine revolutions. Owner's Manual page 64

Road Rage said that he thought that the oil life algorithm was non-linear. However mine was linear from 0 to 4000 miles (50%), but it may change in the next 50%. I'm trying to keep track of its progression.

I noticed that around 4,500 miles, my MID went to "<20%" but when the odometer turned 10,000 miles, the MID told me that A1 service was due soon.

i thought it was linear as well when i first got the car and noticed that it was about the same mileage when i had to change the oil. but after my most recent oil change the % has gone down at a lower rate and i am closer to the point where i am expecting about 50% but the mid only says 70%.
