Oh boy, these pickup truck owners....

Ever since I moved down to Houston, I've lost count of how many of these pickup drivers have asked for a beat down on the road (f-150's, rams, ect). The most entertaining was this guy in a New Black Toyota Tundra. He was next to me at a light and began revving at me and smiling with his GF next to him (she was pretty hot BTW). I looked over to him and yelled out "do you really want to embarrass yourself in front of your girl?" He just shook his head and said "bring it." I launched it pretty aggresively and was smoking him as im spinning all though 1st and part of 2nd gear. We get stuck at the next light and his GF is flipping out on him (im just laughing in my head and smiling). I make a right onto the highway and he proceeds to follow me making a right from the middle lane. I just take it easy and he proceeds to gun it and try to pass me, but i was just waiting for him in gear and right when he got next to me, I punch it and began putting semi truck lengths on him. At 120, I couldnt count how far back he was. I slow down and he pulls a "ricer" (if you'd call him that) flyby. It was worth the entertainment of making him look like a fool in front of his GF. BTW, I was in my C6.

Any of you guys have problems with guys in pickups thinking they have sports cars?

Against a C6, it's pretty dumb to race with any truck.

BUT some of those trucks can whoop a nice chunk of ass. Tundra has something like 400 tq, SRT-10 Ram is an absolute beast, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple.

Which car were you in? I used to get races all the time when I had my 96 Z71 2 door Tahoe, but it was a sleeper

I agree with AMAN though, the SRT10 is a BEAST

Did he really think he stood a chance against a C6?

I had a guy on the highway a few weeks ago in a new crew cab Hemi trying to play. He also had his gf/wife and kept pacing me at like 75 or 80. I was tempted to drop it into third and walk him hard, but being 5 oclock in the afternoon and fairly heavy traffic I decided against it.

The SRT 10's are quick for a big truck, but they're nothing against a modded diesel.

Absolutely correct. I have mentioned this in many of my post.

I "race" (not that it is a real race ) more pick-up trucks than any thing else. It is because the mocho asses think that pick-up trucks "rules" Texas.

The prominent thought among pick-up drivers is "Damn foreign car. I'll show you what an American V8 can do". Anytime I am at a light with a truck beside me, I have no doubts that he is going to try to take me from the line. Always good for a quick laugh

I actually had an encounter with a Dodge ram pickup truck awhile back with my 4cyl Accord. He was a real douche. "You know the gas pedal is on the right, don't you?" That thing was quick though lol. He actually beat me by a car cuz that thing launched like hell. It was 5spd too. I've yet to encounter one in my 6 speed.

I raced a turbo diesel truck and he kept up until 80mph with an almost fully bolted 5AT 3G TL .. I don't sleep on them with my Accord.

Now that I think of it I did run into a turbo diesel with my Accord. I was packed out and missed 3rd and I still pulled 2 cars They are definitely quick though, and modded they can be fast.

Anytime you're around, I'd love to run it. A video for AZ would be ideal.

I hope your truck runs 11s, because you will only be seeing ass if not. My Vette is running strong and after a lot of practice, I've finally figured out how to really drive her. I know for sure you would be toast after 100 mph.

meh, some of those guys are...different
i remember posting on here about a turbo diesel chevy silverado 2500 hd allison something or another. i remember smashing past him (or trying to at least). he kept dead even with me up until, i wanna say...top of 3rd or going into 4th. we took off from a roll. guy hung his arm + body out the window to look down (his car was super high); i didn't even bother to acknowledge his gloat . the fact that he's heavier + a truck + turbo + diesel...he deserves the win. stupid punk ass high school kid with pretty sitting girlfriend in the car! ugh

I was able to run a 12.38@115.86 at Englishtown STOCK. I have a Tune and CAI now and have also learned some more tricks launching this thing. To edge me, he's going to need to be able to hit high 11s. Also, after 120+ mph, I'm certain he wont be able to keep up.

what is it with trucks?? I swear more trucks try to race me more than any other type of vehicle. Its RIDICULOUS. I see more "riced out" trucks than Honda's where I live. With the stupid flame badges, altezza tail lights, big obnoxious stickers. Trucks = new rice

It's not my truck personally, but it is a friend who's always looking to surprise people with it. Runs mid 12's on a conservative tune.

Don't underestimate some of these trucks in Texas.

Well I've seen quite a few in the 10s and 9s so there are def. some out there that can easily take you. I'm pretty sure my dad's 2500hd duramax with the Allison is gear limited to 120. It's pretty annoying on the highway. Some of these trucks with 1600whp must change the gearing or get diff trannys.

The real cincher is - How many of these supertrucks are daily driven?

With street racing, just like in fully sanctioned racing events, there are competition categories. In street racing, there are two primary categories: 1) Weekend Warrior or 2) Daily Driver.

It is not fair to pit one against the other if they are from different competition categories. How many of these supertrucks, with unrealistic gearing and etc, are driven as their primary daily commuter?

LOL, I did not know that. But the weekend warrior guys could say it's not fair that you don't have an interior.

We have some pick-up nuts in Southern CA also.

Since getting the G I've run (and smoked);

~'06 Silverado SS (unknown mods)
~'09 Silverado (w/exhaust, unknown mods)
F250 Turbo Diesel

Countless other trucks/SUVs with dealer plates (it must take them awhile to realize it's not a "race car").

And most of them were driving like idiots, attempting to cut me off or "push" me out of the way. The SS was cool though. Dig runs from stop lights. He gave up after losing two.

In my av you can see an '06 F250 Turbo Diesel 4x4 parked next to my QX. I'm truck sitting for my father in law (moved out of country). Trying to talk him into selling it to me (on the cheap). It would be fun to play with the boost on that.

As a heads-up since we are on this topic. As we talked already, it is not often that you run across a Super Turbo Truck.

But, here is a clue to when a truck is not just a plain truck.

Louder than normal turbo whine under light throttle and heavier than normal black soot from the exhaust. The thicker the soot is from the exhaust, the much more likely that it is a tricked-out turbo (super quick).

A guy I know had one that ran 14 flat with just an intake/tune I believe. They can be quick with little to no mods also.

This may be the case.

It's so easy to lie on the street. And it's so common. I ran into a white Sentra once (04-05) that I'd seen around and knew it was quick. So we got to a light and I asked him if he was boosted. Of course he said no, all motor. But I had a friend in the Sentra crew that said there was a white Sentra with a 50 shot. Well, it was clearly this guy because I only pulled 2 cars from a dig to 75. Bolt ons + 50 shot = nice sleeper Sentra. I figured that'd put him around 215-220whp/225-230wtq. Needless to say I felt pretty good after finding that out Considering they weigh like 2700lbs.

I know he's your boy but he may trick you into a false sense of security
