Octane recomendations
Hello, do you all run 92 octane in your Tl's? I know that acura recommends it, however I was told by a mechanic that 89 octane is fine. What do you think?

Wow has it been a month already?
Here is what I recommend you do.
STEP #1: SEARCH Try using the search feature. It's cool. I'll give you a hint. Try "octane", "gasoline", "premium fuel", etc.
STEP #2: Open your owners manual and read what it says for minimum octane rating. Obey the rules the engineers set for you.
STEP #3: Use the lowest octane you can use without pinging. The higher the octane, the LESS volitile the fuel. Period!

When I bought my TL, the saleman said the same thing to me because up here we jump from 89 to 92 or 93 with nothing in between.
I also heard the service manager trying to explain to someone complaining about MPG that they need to run a higher grade of fuel.
If there was a concern about spending $5 or more per tank compared to regular grade, then high compression autos should have been left off the list when looking for a new car.
I run premium in both my Honda Pilot and Acura TL.
