Smile Obligatory new TL baby photos...

I've posted an article with pictures regarding my new Nighthawk Black Pearl/Ebony TL (just got it last week) on my personal website. The article includes links to pictures of the TSX I traded in on the TL...which I've duplicated here for your enjoyment

My 2004 TSX (bought in April of 2003):

Question: Is there less factory tint in TL's sold in Canada? The windows look more clear than American cars.

BTW, killer looking ride and congrats!

Black is such a powerful color when it's clean.

Looks great! I can't wait to take delivery of my Anthracite TL

Hmmm: Interesting question. The picture was taken in fairly intense sunlight, and I have no aftermarket tint. There are definitely differences between the American and Canadian TL "package": no XM radio here (you'll notice the antenna is missing) since XM isn't approved by the CRTC (Canadian FTC); no Anthracite with Auto transmission, and maybe other differences.

I've always liked black. Its a pain to keep clean, but something about the colour (or lack there of) makes me feel "cool" when I'm driving around. Yeah, that's pretty funny coming from a guy who is probably the least "cool" person in existence, but...

Anthracite would have been my second choice, although (as noted above) you can't get Anthracite TLs in Canada with automatic transmissions. Anthracite and Redondo red are for manual trannies only here, and I don't want the manual (nice as it is). We also have fewer interior/exterior colour combos available.

But we do have Red Rose tea....sorry, very old television advert reference...

I like both of your cars. Are you enjoying the TSX? I considered buying the TSX but in the end loved the TL's power.

I think my wife would kill me if I did :lol1:

Seriously, though, I've never owned a car for less than 5 years before. Trading in my TSX...I loved that car, but the TL was beckoning me. I'm at the age where I see the road ahead as shorter than the road behind, and wasted opportunities seem riskier than perhaps they did at an earlier age. The closest thing to a practical explanation for the decision to trade in the TSX is that its trade-in value was still pretty good, and time wouldn't improve that.

That said, I kind of expect that I'll be holding on to my TL for at least five years, if not longer. But never say never :diablotin

Sadly, I traded in the TSX on the TL, so I don't have that one any more. However, for the year I had the TSX, I was perfectly happy. The car was rock solid, never felt like it "only" had 4 cyllinders, and handled with great agility. The styling was perfect- every angle, and the interior made me smile every time I sat behind the wheel. Trading it in was a matter of "great" versus "greater" for me- the 2004 TL was like my TSX perfected. The same styling cues are everywhere in the TL...but with more refinement and luxury.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a TSX and, to a very large extent, the experience I had with the TSX made buying the TL "easy". I realize only owning the TSX for a year doesn't qualify me as a "long term owner". But I've owned a couple of other "brand new/nearly new" cars in the past, and their first years were far from trouble free. The TSX...for me, there wasn't a single errant squeek, vibration or component failure. Fit and finish were flawless for my standards. Every component and feature worked as advertised or better the first time and throughout the year.

Along with my wife's experience with the 1.7 EL, I felt absolute faith in the Acura- something I can't say I have for any other car brand. I guess the TSX sold me on the TL

Bone stock is still a beautiful picture when it's a TL.
Congratulations.
