North Carolina Inspections
Hey,
Guys in North Carolina, my inspection is due and I currently have 20% tint all around. Is this going to affect whether or not I pass inspection? If so, does any NC member know a more-"leniant" inspection station?
Thanks.

You're gonna need to slide someone some extra money, either that or have the tint removed.

My car had NC plates before I moved out to Missouri, and I worked in Northern VA. I actually drove down and went to three different places around Charlotte, slipped each of them 50 and they still freakin failed me!!!!! Good thing about Missouri, they don't even actually test it!!!!
So yeah, don't try around Charlotte

Don't know of anywhere, but haven't had a need to try.
You also pay and Extra $10 for them to inspect the tints.
FYI Only: NC Tint for auto's is 35% but will pass to 32%. Sides and rear window. Any level of tint is allowed on the front down to the AS1 line.
State-by-State Tint Laws (check post #2 for an updated link). https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164732

Don't let it get *too* far past due.
I think my fine was $378 (that was on the order of 6 months past due).

I guess that I got lucky then when I got pulled over for my sticker. It was 2 years past due because it was just sitting in my aunt's driveway and the day I was going to get it done a cop pulled me over and I told him I was going there so he followed me all the way to where I was getting it done.

^^
I got fined directly by the DMV by mail. Could not renew the registration until the fine was paid either.
I didn't get ticketed for an expired inspection sticker until later. lol. It was stupid and it cost a lot of $$.

Yes, Hendrick Acura...again, just what I heard. I'd ask anyone up front before I authorized the inspection to make sure all was kosher. That way, if they won't look the other way in exchange for a little consideration, you don't waste the money on a failed inspection. Now that I think about it, a friend of mine at work has 20% and her husband found a place in Monroe (where they live) that he got to pass her car. I'll see if I can get the info, but I know she doesn't know.

Just talked to her...said it is some mechanic in Monroe...he didn't even charge for tint inspection and didn't need to be slipped anything. She said she'd ask her husband for the details (besides that it's on 601).

Nice, chill_dog, that info would be great. However, I also just remembered that my cousin's friend is the head mechanic for Ford and he could probably do my inspection for me!

Some of my friends around raleigh never seem to have problems getting there's inspected I can try to find out where they get it done if u want.
Also one of my old roommates had his windows tinted on his jeep (20%) and he told me that he would just roll down the front windows and take out the fuse and tell them that his window motors had died so that they couldn't roll them up and check. I know it sounds really stupid and i was never with him when he did it so I don't know if its true but if your desperate its an idea.

Let me know if all other options fail.....I had a Scion TC with 20% all around so I had a shop I went to take care of it. It cost me 75 bucks each year. The price you will pay to get it done. I got this car and had 35% all around. It was a pain in the ass in the past and I wasn't sure how long the shop would be around. I haven't seen the guy in a while so I would need at least a week in advance to set you up with him. It is close to the downtown area.

Your wrong, your car is special, it's a TL! We will all be in contact for the pictures so once we can all commit to a date, we will do it. The more there are the better the picture.
