Noob: First Time '07 TL S owner
Hello acurazine, I'm use to clubrsx because I own a 03 RSX S. I am about to pick up a daily driver though. I am a buyer for a large used car dealer and a good deal popped up on a 07 TL S. 62k miles for $11,400. It has a busted nav screen and a homemade intake. It came in today but before I can buy it, it has to pass inspection so I have to remove the illegal tint however the car has a dead battery(dead as in take the jump box off and it dies). I'm hoping it's not the alternator. How much of a pain is the alternator on the S? I did not have time to pull the engine cover off and look at it.
The homemade intake is the part that scares me, obviously the person is too lazy/cheap to buy a real one so that probably treated the car like a crap, I hear these auto. trannys are tough though. I hope to post pics soon.

They removed the stock air box and stuck a cone filter on the oem rubber tube. Filter is not too dirty. Good thing is I can still back out and only get stuck with the shipping charge. I will probably throw a new battery in her Friday and see if she holds a charge. Could be dirty cables I honestly didn't have time to look at the car today. I just threw a jump box on it and when I pulled it off she died. She started perfectly with the jump box. zero power without it. could be dirty connections.

Yeah it's about $1k below rough book. Driver quarter has been painted but all the factory welds and VIN are there. No spun bolts on the car.

Even if the condition was GOOD (which it doesn't sound like it is), the private party price is $18.1k according to KBB. If it was excellent condition and from a dealer, the blue book value is around $21K.
Something is definitely not right...salvage? major issues? you can't even start the car b/c of the battery right? maybe the tranny is dead, etc..
tldr I wouldn't do it bro.

it could be a small problem...you never know. or it could be a big problem, thats the gamble. like playing blackjack, its a gamble, lets say the car LOOKS perfect, but its got a broken transmission and engine, or the car looks like crap but runs 100% strong. dealer shows a 6 and you got a 11, of course you gotta double down, but its still a gamble

Car started perfectly with a jump box. I spoke with the person who bought the car for us. He test drove the vehicle and it runs fine. Battery must have died during shipping. I buy cars for dealerships for a living. I know the car is structurally fine. CarFax/Autocheck work about 1/2 the time. The car is fine our dealership chooses not to build it simply because in the amount of time it would take to fix this car they build 3 in it's place. I'll look at it some more tomorrow.
