No service records on a 2008 TL

How much engine wear/damage would be incurred if the motor oil was only changed once or twice on a 2008 TL with low mileage (say 20,000-25,000 miles) ?

I wouldn't think it would be too too bad but the value would be definitely diminished.

Twice would be about every 6000 - 8000 miles (plus due now).

I think some have their MID telling them to change every 6000 miles or so.

2G TL had oil an oil change interval or 7500 miles. (3.2 litre J-series).

Unless they tell you the service were not kept up with the oil changes could have been done by the owner or a shop. The Mid gets pretty crazy if you don't reset it, starts counting the miles passed when the oil should have been changed. My car has never seen the dealer since I bought it so I would have no dealer service records.

I never got any service records with my 08 TL. So I got the oil changed as soon as I took delivery and had it checked out at the local dealer. Everything was fine .

I'm hoping when they reset the MID they actually did the stuff required.

If they had the know-how to reset the MID then I hope they can do a simple oil change.

My 2008 has no Acura service records, as I have done all the maintenance myself. I have kept the receipts for the oil and filter purchases, though, and detailed records of what I have done. Have it checked out to be sure, though.

Thanks for the comments. I saw a 2008 TL that a used car dealer was selling for $19,999. A little tempted since base CPO'd TL's go for $23,000. in the NYC/NJ area. They had no service records and the car was purchased from a Acura Remarketing auction. The CarFax only showed it was titled in NYC 3 years ago and sold at auction a few months ago. No mention of dealer service history.

Car had no Acura dealer stickers on it. Had some minor curb rash on all 4 wheels and the rear bumper was repainted. Probably was a NYC car that came off-lease and Acura dealer passed on it when it was returned.

I know you get what you pay for it.....

Call up Acura with that cars VIN and they will tell you the original selling dealer. Then call that dealer....chances are you might get lucky and the car was serviced at that particular dealer.
