Newbie here

Hello,
I am new to this board and would like some direction. I am seriously considering getting a 04 TL 6MT non-navi and would like to get some feedback from current owners.
Is there anything you don't like about the car? Maybe something you wish had but didn't or has that you don't care for.
I'm considering trading in my NSX for one.
Thank you in advance for any answers and I look forward to reading your replies.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

Here is a thread with some problems that new TL owners are discussing.

http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=64458

In general though, most of the problems are not a big deal, and we love our cars despite these minor issues.

You've got lots to catch up on...but agree you should get the Navi if you want to get the max out of the hands free & Bluetooth. Don't sweat the tires issue if you go w/the EL 42s...Acura will make it right the easy way or the hard way.

I agree get the navi or you will regret it. I have no tire issues, nor any other issue in 2 months. Car is working perfectly.

Ditto on the Navi--I suggest you opt for it.

The car gets better every day, as I learn more about it and get more flight time.

Also, negotiate ALL accessories at "Internal" price--I did.

I highly recommend the TL floormats/trunktray.
I removed the standars floormats and put them into storage (deep preservation).

Where do you find "internal" prices for the DIO's?

Sorry to be realle repetative...but get the navi. I really did not have a need for it, so I did not get it...now, however, I do miss being able to use voice controls for all the major functions of the vehicle

I don't know where you find a LIST for internal pricing,
but as I researched the 04TL for 3 months, I learned as much lingo as I possible could.

Some dealers are respectible, some are not.

I called Sunnyside Acura @ 1-800-683-2533

http://www.sunnysideacura.com/en_US/

for prices on Brembo calipers: List is $354 ea, their price= $283.86

Santa Monica Acura (you peckerheads), quotes list @ $426 ea!!
Santa Monica Acura didn't impress me w/their sales capabilites, so they were scratched off early in the research efforts.

That was a long tangent, but the point is we really don't know.

TL Trunk tray was $99
TL all weather Floormats $129
the other stuff I can't remember at this time.

Labor was regular shop rates--couldn't lower the $$$ there.

INTERNAL PRICES should be what the actual cost is to the parts dept.
Then the parts dept. marks it up for "DEALER COST."
Then the dealer marks it up for "RETAIL PRICES."

Some dealers might try to screw you around, but if you let them know that the lowest price, meaning Interanal Prices, is the price you are negotiating for.

Good luck to new purchasers, and last bit of free advice:
Look all over the dealers lots and bays--the more TL's they have sitting there, the better chances you will have at going for or around the invoice target.

I paid 1k over invoice, internal prices, and $920 + $100 comission for the ACURA 7/100.

The NSX (even the 2004 models) are getting a bit long in the tooth. It needs a serious engine upgrade.

One thing that is holding me up right now is I don't care much for the limited number of colors offered. I want bright red over black. I guess I will wait till next year and see if they offer something more along those lines unless I just find a killer deal on a traded in one.
Please keep comments and suggestions coming though. I very much appreciate them.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not.
I'm not going to be crazy enough to buy a new car and then paint the entire thing. There is something called resale value that I may be concerned with down the road.
That is one reason I haven't done more to my NSX than I have. I originally thought I would keep that car forever but now here I am contemplating on trading/selling it.

It was partially serious.

Check this out though--new idea:

If they had that clearbra material in tinted shades like primaries: red, yellow, blue, and maybe even the secondary colors like orange, green, purple...

That stuff could be applied over the entire car, and peel it off when you resale it.

This idea is on the table for anyone--just send me some royalties if it's a success.

I think you will miss the car after a few weeks as many have that sold there nsx and are now suffering from withdrawel. But to each there own, i would definitly tell you to get the navi weather u decide on a auto or a manual. I hope you are at least considering trading in for a manual as it offers the bigger brake package and the 6 speed gear box.

The 6MT is (in my opinion) the choice to opt for.

75 pounds lighter,
LSD (not LSD-25),
Brembos up front w/larger/ventilated rotors,
97% efficient (compared to 89% of the slushbox option),
FUN, FUN, FUN.

But of coarse you probably know this w/the NSX.
That would suck if they made those with the AT.

There is no doubt I would get the 6sp. I have to row my gears. I just don't know whether the navi is worth the extra $ or not.
