Hello Acurazine members!

For the longest time, i've been looking for a new car and i've had my eye on the 3G TSX until one day, i went to the dealer in TO and found that 05' TL was around the same price +/- 1-2k and i quickly switched my interest to the TL. I mean, for the same price, bigger engine, more luxurious options, bigger, and classier car, who wouldn't get it?

I bought this 05' TL Anthracite Metallic non-navi with 50k miles for 17k at keyes acura van nuys. not highly recommended for future reference

I've had the car for less than a week and i've been driving it on the freeway up and down PCH and i absolutely love the car. I can't tell you how many heads turn or "breaking necks" i've seen or been told in the past week. But i was more surprised about the ELS sound system. It may be a factory system, but i am truly amazed by the quality and depth you get from it.

This is my project car, so its not gonna stay stock for long! I need some advice on what mods i should do! Hopefully, some AM members can tell me what looks good with what. All feedback and advice is appreciated!

a pair of type-s tails and side makers alone do the car WONDERS! that along side a slight drop and some tasty wheels.....you'll fall for her again! lol

the basics: cai, exhaust
optional: black/clear headlights, p2r spacers, rv6 package (j-pipe, test pipe, strut bar, pre-cat deletes), rear sway bar, coilovers, ur crank pulley, S/C (yummmmmmy), etc.

I'm running 15% tint all around. Not sure on your tint laws, but dark tint looks good on any TL. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to AZ Oh, on the ELS, play a DVD-A and really here what she can do.

Got my 06 AM in February. Check my sig for how far I have come in so little time. Once you catch the mod bug, it's hard to put down.

Any one of those 3 makes a huge difference.

First I'd say swap the tails and sidemarkers and do something with the headlights. Rims and aspec next.

I did headlights, aem v2 and bbk first and now im doing tails, type s aspec, type s spoiler, quad exhaust. I need some rims/ tein ss next.

well it all depends on where u live and how much u can get away with.....personally i feel the darker the better!!!! i have 5% all around(minus the windshield)......but everytime i see the cops i always roll the windows down unless i feel like getting harrassed.....

Mos def! i hope to get a 15% tint all around. but i was wondering how a limo tint on the back and maybe a 25-30% tint on the front windows would look?! any pics of a dark tint on back windows and a lighter % on the front???
i hope i can get away with it!

SCS15: it seems like you and many others suggest to replace the headlights, tails and sidemarkers with the TL-S style. is it that big of a difference? perhaps i should get my headlights done by JNC? hmm

Steven Bell: How about the deck lip spoiler? How much would that cost? i dont really like the M3 style spoiler.

Yup! they agreed on 17k for my car through email. So when we went to Keyes acura, we assumed the price was 17k and started to check out the car. 3 hrs later when we were going to sign, he said the price was $17,998. That is the most shady part of the deal. on top of that, they had a PDI fee (pre-delivery inspection fee), $400. I was about to walk out but after harsh negotiation, we arrived at a agreement of $17.4k before taxes and registration. I had to argue for a detailing job before i left the dealership, which is supposed to done when you buy a car from the DEALER. Never going to deal with them again.

TL-S tails look great on AM and the sidemarkers are a must for any color TL. It just looks retarded having the fronts smoked and the rears red. And for under 300 bucks from hondaacuraworld.com its a great mod.

JNC does some really sick work and you have zero downtime with your car unlike most other headlight places. There are so many things you can upgrade like the zkw lenses, halo lights, new bulbs, leds etcc. I chose to do everything blacked out with 85122+ bulbs and zkw lenses. I will probably be switching to 6k HIDS soon once I put my type s kit on and 6k fogs.

Nice whip. I would go with tints and then an intake...get a taste of looks and performance and then go from there. Hope you have some money saved up because it's gonna go quick!

+1 start with tint/wheels/drop/aspec kit (major visual change). And in between, TLS tails/rear sidemarkers/headlights.

Man. i wish i had the money saved up to put those on my car! how much did you drop em by? and what chamber kit did you need?! ERrr i need to find a good deal on some basics.


enigmaos: i really hope to do all those mods. its gonna take me a long time to save up for those mods esp. cause i'm in a 4 yr university atm. With a $9/hr job well thats the fun part right? SLOW TRANSFORMATION but soo sexy! APPRECIATE THE CHANGE and not be a brat and have my parents pay for everything YAY FOR BEING POOR haahah

Ahh that sucks you can't make it, oh well maybe next time. Yeah Lake Balboa is in the valley, just north of around the 405 and 101 interchange. Anyways I don't know about expert advice haha I am still learning also I only had this car for 6 months. I think there is quite a few other people on here that go to UC Irvine.

I have AM too...kick ass color IMO. First mod was type-s tails (haven't done sidemarkers yet...), then 35% tint, aspec body kit (makes the car look totally different), and then decklid lip spoiler. Rims are going to be next, just don't know exactly when... If u are going to do the decklid spoiler, i'd recommend thespoilerstore (I think it's all caps in the store name) on ebay. Great quality, good finish...got it already painted, clearcoated and shipped for $107. No drilling into the trunk either, just double sided 3M automotive tape already on the back. It's definitely not a total visual change, but after you get the aspec kit it finishes it off nicely. I know a lot of members here have that same spoiler too.

Hockeyman23: Do you have a picture of your decklid spoiler? Ebay didnt give me a good picture of what it would look like on the AM TL. Is this spoiler the same dimensions as the factory decklip spoiler you get from the dealership minus the bolt ons??? Cause it was $450 w/o installation at the dealership. RIP OFF

i think h techs drop about 1 inch all around.. i just wanted it a little lower but not too much.. i live in socal now but i go to school colorado.. lowered tl in colorado during winter = no bueno. from what ive read the camber from that drop isnt too bad.. need to get an alignment to make sure but if anything only a rear camber kit is needed.
