New TL Owner :P

About 4 hours ago, i made my purchase for a 06 black/ebony TL w/ Navi, trunk tray, all season mat, and mudd guard + 7yrs extended warrenty.
Price for me is $33180 for the car and $1853 for the 7yr.
I told the sales manager that i want to have the transmission fluid changed out w/ GMFM, he said he never heard of the 3rd gear problem, and told me that i can do it anytime in the warrenty period later anyway... ok, and i told him about the rear seat water problem on some tl and want to make sure it is seal properly, he told me he never heard that too..... and told me the same thing, that would be fix if problem occures..... i was thinking can't u tell me something better than telling me to wait until something happen and something get ruin....
ne way, the car should be here in 10 days, very exciting.... i'll post pictures when i get a chance.... thx for the fourm, learned a lot before making my decision.

Well, it's an experience to learn from for next time. A couple points to help in the future. Make sure the financing is squared away before you come to an agreement.

I just got the 4.9% for the Acura upgrade event and had him write it on the bill of sale. They think your anal, but at least your bases are covered. That way, there's no questions later on.

I felt very comfortable with my dealer, so it wasn't a big issue, but never leave a deposit that big. They asked me for one and I said, sure, I'll put $100 down. A lot easier to walk away from. My previous car, I said that, and they told me they needed more than that. I said, no you don't, and that was it, they didn't press anymore. I know some dealers are easier to work with than others, but you always have the option not to buy.

Sorry about your problems, but once everything is resolved, don't let the bad dealership experience take away from the awesome car you just got. Congrats!

I put the deposit on my credit card, you can always pull it and dispute it later.

I'd walk if you can, find another dealer.

I would consider other financing options anyway. I got a loan through a credit union, for 4.9% for 8 years. I wanted really easy payments that I could increase when possible.

If you do get out of it, you might want to think about the 7 year warrenty. That is a long time. Do you think you will keep your TL until 2013?

Your deposit is not fully-refundable? In all of my experiences the deposit was refundable if I decided not to buy the car. Obviously it's different if I signed on the dotted line but I haven't met a dealer that didn't refund the full deposit.

the 7 year warrenty for me is a must, because i will be finished with school next year, and i hope in five years or so, i can purchase my first house, so i am expecting to drive this car for more than 10 years, we have a 1993 honda accord manual that we are still driving now, and i have 2 more brothers who will be finished with school 1.5 to 2 years behind me, so i expect this car to last me quite a long time...
I will check on the deposit thing and see what i can do, maybe i can get the 4.9% since i purchased it on 4/30. I'll post it when i know what any outcome is. thx for helping me on it everyone.

I have checked other banks and currently they're offering a 6.75% APR

My deposit was refundable. At the dealership I went to (Sunnyside Acura) they require a 1000 deposit which just holds the car for you. If you decide you dont want it anymore they will refund you the deposit and put the car back on the market.

Not sure what others experiences were but that is what mine was.

I got my 06TL Anthracite/Ebony non-navi at McGrath in Morton Grove in April with the following finance options: 2.9% for 3yrs, 4.9% for 4 years and 5.9% for 5 years.

McGrath is a top notch dealership. I have always been treated so well. My sales persons name was Alex... can't remember his last name. If you go there tell him the lady with the dog seat in the front sent ya.

Sounds like the dealership should honor the interest rate, I bought mine on friday the 29th of Apr and the finance guy mentioned this deal, don't know how your sales rep wouldn't know about this. Hope this works out in your favor.

as long as they will honor this offer, it would make me feel a little better, otherwise we'll see what happen....
the manager also told me that i should stay away from the message board and stop researching, and think i'm crazy with the interest rate, kinda piss me off since i'm a college student studying General Economic, Financial Economic, International Economic, Business Economic, Tax Accounting Minor, Managment Finance Minor, Mangement Minor.... and he told me to stop researching and that the interest rate was never so low!? I'm sure i have more idea on what interest rate is than what he know.
Ah! i tried to ignore him, but this is kinda pissing me off as well as everything he said...
man... i have never been so pissed off (not acura, but the manager), i hate it when ppl say things like that or blem me for something....

You're getting ripped off on the 7 year warranty. Most people are able to get good deals priced from $1000 to $1300 for the 7 year. I got mine for $1300 for the 7yr/100k with no deductible.

Run away, RUN FOREST RUN

Get your deposit back and run away.. if the manager is telling you to stop researching he is trying to keep you in the dark. I just got 4.9 with my wifes acura and our credit union would do the same. The 4.9 is through Honda America, so if he doesnt even know what corporate is doing he shouldn't be selling cars. Or maybe he does good business getting local financing and pocketing referral fees. It would nt matter if the car is super and the best thing on earth, a bad dealer that rips you in financing or price is going to sour that deal for the next 5-7 years you own the car. The one thing I have learned about acura is the prices are competitive between dealers, so another dealer will have a similar price +/- a few hundred but still in the same ball park....

RUN forest RUN....

6.2 % 72 Months -

I took the longer payments.

I was offered 5.9 for 60 Months.

I was told that i was not a ultra perfered because my credit score was 3 numbers below the starting tier.

I wanted 4.9% for 60 Months.

I will trade the car in 24 months, Value to loan will still be in the positive.

Just got the car today, how nice, the trunk tray is missing, so i have to go back tomorrow to pick it up, also today the dealer offer me a 5.6%, so now i have to go back to the bank, fix everything, then headback to the dealer and complete the finance application.... at least things have gotten better now, kinda funny when they told me that the trunk tray is included, then when the manager came out, saying we never ordered one while it was clearly written by him that we ordered it, so 2 different lies on the same subject at the same time by 2 different person, how nice....
