New TL Owner

Hi Folks,

Recently purchased an 06 TL with 85K KM's. Had the car for about a week and so far the car is great. I've owned Acura's in the past and then I jumped ship to Audi and now I'm back. Gotta get used to driving FWD again. I'm hoping this car will last longer than my A6 (blown transmission).

So, as a new owner, are there an issues that I should be aware of? Any cheap mods that can be done to the car? Are there any major surprises/headaches that I should look out for?

Looking the get the most out of the car and drive the hell out of it, much like I did with my A6.

Thanks,

Welcome back ER. Can you give us an owner comparison between your TL and A6?

Welcome TL_ER

Cheap mods: "Tint" or "Tints" for starters, LEDs

I hope this doesn't start that Tint or Tints discussion again...

LOL

+1, tinting should be the first, and LED's do add a nice touch to the interior. I myself did blue to match the base blue lights and I love it.

Welcome back to the Acura family!

There are some similiarities, but a lot of differences. Mine was a C5 body style A6 4.2 V8 and it had APR software on it. It feels weird dropping down to a V6 because I miss the roar of the V8. With the Audi, put on a good set of snows and the car became a tank. No issues in the wintertime. Some may have heard of the electrical gremlins that exist, but i guess i was one of the lucky ones where there were no issues.

In comparing the two cars, there are some similarities that immediately stand out. The argonomics and comfort features are very similiar. Finding the right seating position, knowing where all the controls are are pretty much the same. However, where the major difference lies is within the fit. I'm not hating on Acura, but the quality of the trim, components and subtle touches are not there in comparsion. A lot of the extra features that I had on my car which was an '03 were pretty high end. Solar sunroof, rear sun shades, etc, will be missed.

What I won't be missing is the maintenance costs. The constant replacement of CV Boots, expensive oil changes (synthetic), brakes, etc.... I did some calculations and I've spent close to $3000 in 6 months just on maintenance. If i didn't have a warranty on the vehicle when I first bought it, I would have been screwed because basically every component, sensor was replaced before the warranty expired.

However, to me the A6 was one of those cars that you just can't stop looking at. Maybe it was the widebody, the arched wheel flares, to me, Audi did that car right. I was originally looking to get an RS6, but when I did my research and found out about the up keep, ie, timing belt replacement every 35k, there was no way I was going to drop that much on a car just to keep it going, so I settled for the next closest thing in the line-up.

Congrats Welcome to AZ! Check out the 3G garage for tons of info. Also register your TL at www.myacura.com in the USA or https://www.myacura.acura.ca/ in Canada. Save your Navi and Radio codes there. Check for any recalls your TL may need.

Well, my personal suggestion is HFL because that was my first issue since I had my 05' TL 3 years ago. It is related to battery drain problem as well. You can search it in this forum.
Enjoy your ride! Concrats~~!
