New TL Owner - 2008 NBP Nav 5sp
Hi Guys,
I'm new to the Acura world. I'm coming from a 2004 Mazda 6s. Now I have a 2008 NBP 5sp Acura TL + Nav.
So far I love the car, I wish I had the 6sp TLS though. I've been looking around this forum for a little while doing all the reading up I can.
So my imediate goals right after I sell of my old Mazda parts are:
Tint, CAI, Catback Exhaust, Wheels and Coil Overs.
I also want to clear out my headlights. (to get rid of the orange sides. And get clear front side markers.
And whatever other small mods there might be that are worth while.
One question: What fuel grade are you guys using on your cars?
That's it for now, maybe I'll see some of you guys around the West LA area.

Hey Griff,
Welcome! I see you have a general idea already of where you want your car to go. I will answer your question about fuel, however. Since we are here in Cali, the best fuel we can use is 91 octane. This is also the recommended fuel to use in our cars, per ACURA. I recommend that you use 91 octane, because that is what will give your car the best performance, and it is also just plain better for your car. It was designed with using 91 octane fuel in mind. Yes, you can use either 87 or 89 octane, but the car will not perform at it's peak, and fuel economy will possibly suffer. With that...

Ironically I went from a 2004 Mazda 6s to a 2008 TLS Auto! I know the feeling. I have to use 93+ in my ride. The biggest differenced I noticed from the Mazda to the Acura was the quality. I can feel it in the steering wheel alone. I guess for 15k more, you should feel the difference. I LOVE the Ac!

Thanks for the info princelybug. I've been running on 91, just wanted to double check if anyone was using less without running lean.
I'll post pics once I start moding, but for now, it's just another NBP TL.
WVUNavyvet:
Thats crazy, cool coincidence. I do feel the extra power, and of course the comfort. Then again, I was on a stiffer suspension and low profile tires.
And is it just me or is the TL's steering wheel really thin compared to the Mazda's.
But hands down, the TL is a definite upgrade. I love it.
