New TL - My list of likes/dislikes

Picked up a 6mt/05 TL on Saturday with 10 miles on it, we're almost at 400 now.

Here is my list of likes and dislikes...

+ Navi is worth it, easy to use and if you travel a fair amount, it's worth it, you can throw maps away
+XM radio, I've had it before and the TL has 12 channel presets
+CD, holds 6 cds!
+Brembos, these are awesome brakes
+Heated seats
+Heated side mirrors
+Front and rear defrosters
+Dual climate controls, now my wife has the passenger side at 80F and I have the driver's side at 67F
+Headlights really light up the road, I guess one is angled up and one is angled down to minimize dazziing of other drivers
+Trunk liner, I would reccomend it
+Nice exhaust tone
+6 spd, love it, shifts very easy, short throw, no concerns on what gear I was hitting
+Seats are very comfortable
+2 fobs, and they retain the seat and mirror memories for each fob
+Bluetooth sounds very neat
+Voice activated radio/xm/navi/climate control wow!
+When the mirror switch is in the right position, and you put the car in reverse, the passenger side mirror angles down, aids in parking... very very useful!

-Rear seat headrests are big and take some getting used to
-Rear view mirror autodim is nice but it's always dark
-I am worried that I will scratch the plastic by the seatbelt
-I am worried that the door sills will get scratched up
-I am worried that I am going to try a top speed run soon
-I'd like the exhaust to be a wee bit louder, I found myself riding out gears more than I normally would even though 3000-4000 is not crazy in a Honda.

All in all, I love the car, and it's an excellent value for the money. I take the interior for granted but my brother/law was loving it.

+Great power from 3000 to 6200, I can't wait to take it to red line a few times
+Buddy said he did 150 in his
+Looks so sharp I go to the window to look at it at work

-had a tough time backing up with those huge headrests on the back seats
-I occasionally kill the engine trying not to slip out the clutch from a dig

How about you guys?

Do you have anything hanging on your mirror, like a parking permit? There is a light sensor on the part of the mirror facing the windshield. If this is covered, your mirror will always be dimmed during the day.

OH. Which side is it on? My I-Pass is up there on the driver's side.

Oh, that might be it. Mine is too dark all the time, too. I "solved" this by manually switching it on only for night driving. I thought the sensor was facing the driver ...

The sensor is facing the back of the car. It's to the left of the mirror. Strange that your mirror is always dark.

Sounds like you're pushing your car pretty hard already... how much mileage do you have on it? My dealership told me to take it easy (especially for the Brembos) for the first 1600km (1000 miles). Were you told to do the same?

Actually there are two sensors. One faces the back of the car, but there is another sensor on the other side, facing the front of the car. If the front sensor is dark, and the back sensor is lit, the mirror will dim, because it thinks it's dark outside, with headlights shining on it. If you obstruct the front sensor during the day, the front sensor will be dark, and the back one will be lit, since it's daylight outside.

I have had the car up to 110 and over 6000 rpms, now at 440 miles. But I have tried to avoid hard braking since I don't want to do brakes at 10,000 miles.

I have a parking placard for work, and if I forget to pull it, the mirror stays dark. My bad. Doh!

The only quirk I have so far is shifting from 5th to 6th. I know it's spring loaded, but I have still on occasion gone from 5th to 4th.

mine stopped working

My car's been in the shop 2 days with them running diagnostics, that still can't figure out why it always dims in the auto setting. Replaced the mirror, checked the sensor, etc...

303 Aerospace will prevent futher scuffing of the textured plastic near the seat belt anchor on the B-pillar and near the ignition. Try it out. I did one application and it is still scuff free.

Jeez, two days? Your shop must be stupid than. Troubleshooting the mirror should only take 10 seconds.

1.) Unplug harness
2.) Check for voltage
3.) use small light source, and your fingers, and play with the two sensors....
4.) Replace if faulty...

That works for both mirrors. Slide the switch to the left, and the driver's side will angle down, and if you stick it in the middle, neither side will angle down.

I have a narrow driveway, and I'm constanly switching the thing back and forth to get all angles.

Jdbruce beat me to it. Switch to the left and the drivers mirror will come down while backing. I find this very helpful and use it on both mirrors as well.

I don't think so, the HID's have a very distinct horizontal cut-off and if your car is level and you can see the cutoff for both lights (i.e., on a wall in front of you), they should line up I believe ... mine do ... if they don't, I'd have the dealer align the headlights.

Fantastic feature, especially if you have the low profile tires and are concerned about running the rims up against the curb.
