New Product Testing Coming Soon : Bracing for your TL
#49
They are actually pretty reasonable. We have some parts here now. We're going to build some packages and post them up shortly.
They do hang down but believe it or not they aren't any lower than the exhaust is. It is really sick seeing them down there. And if you can swallow this, they reduce flex enough that you'll actually gain a bit of ground clearance over certain surfaces.

Serious, the front one will nose into the ground from time to time, and I bonked the middle ones only ONCE over a mega-nasty speed bump that I didn't angle enough. The rear one is between the axle-line so it comes off the ground with the rear wheels. Never gets close to dragging.
The RSB is a separate part. I'd still suggest the progress RSB.

I love the subframe connectors (well, almost subframe connectors) and the brace in front of the front axle line. Can't wait for those to be released. However, I can't see a purpose for most of the others especially some of the rear stuff.
Any chance of getting them in black? I really don't want them to be noticable..
Also, if I decide to keep them on(assuming they don't scrape after a few weeks) I'll probably have them welded in. Have you had anyone weld these in yet? Should help with some of the interior squeaks and rattles for sure.
Believe it or not braces such as these can reduce exhaust drone and road noise in some cars.
I would love to buy a set and write a fair review. I'm only an hour away.

If you stick your finger between the top door frame and roof while driving you can feel the chassis flexing. It will almost pinch your finger.
Stiffer suspensions with slicks will probably notice a difference.

I didn't they had a such a thing for fwd cars. I've had them in my previous 5.0 stangs, 4x4 Tahoe (w/ 8" suspension lift), and 4x4 Chevota (w/ 12" suspension lift). So this will help for wheel hop?

Reducing wheel hop may be a secondary benefit but that's taken care of mostly through bushings and engnie/trans mounts. I'm hoping it takes away some of the rattles and lets the suspension perform better. Might help with road noise too, we'll have to see.

My thoughts exactly. Is he somehow implying that the chassis is actually sagging at static ride height. If so, I wouldn't trust this guy to wire my christmas tree.
I agree, subframe connectors rock. But bolt-in subframe connectors are a bit of joke, IMO. They need to be welded in.
I also agree that many of these so called "braces" are pointless. I'm almost positive these guys do not have a chassis machine that can measure body rigidity. They're only a few million bucks.

No. I had a 96 Maxima with welded in full length subframe connectors. That chassis was far more flimsy than the 04 TL+ chassis. The subframe connectors did not reduce wheel hop in the least, but it did improve handling slightly. Mostly it was improving at the limit feel. I have a hard time seeing bolt on subframe connectors like these doing much of anything other than getting a mechanic to scratch his and think "what the heck is this?" when your car is on a lift.

I would be willing to try the subframe connectors but like I said, assuming they don't destroy ground clearance after a few weeks of driving I'm having them welded in. Quite honestly I'm after rattle reduction more than all out handling. I just wish the subframe connectors went from subframe to subframe but these should help.

Here is a page saying how they all sort of are supposed to work and at the bottom are links for purchasing:

Of course this is mostly theory on the TL at this point but it's pretty well tested in other cars. I'm probably going to install a full set just for my own testing so I'll review it as soon as I get the funds to do so.
The TL is already pretty rigid so I'm not getting my hopes up too much but I can see some room for improvement. Just stick your hand between the door frame and roof next time you're driving and it will feel like it's pinching your finger from the body flex over bumps. It should improve at the limit handling and handling over bumps too.

We will be able to bundle parts for package discounts. We just want to work with Matt there to see how the combos make the most sense.
On my TSX the parts definitely made a difference. When we were developing the HT-Spec dampers and we were starting the setup was all wrong. For some reason I thought bracing might improve things, but contrary to this notion things got worse. The reason is, the braces have the effect of amplifying the suspension traits. When the sus is good, bracing makes it better. When the sus is bad...it gets worse!
The feedback to the driver is just so much better, that it is hard to pinpoint what the actual benefit is. But if you are of the more in-tune-with-your-car crowd, you'll notice them! The effect goes a bit beyond the effectiveness of opening doors when on jack-stands. In this sense, the bracing doesn't do as much as it would on a Mustang, for example. But it does the same thing for the car.
