new 04 tl owner 2ng gen vs 3rd gen TL
hey whats up guys I'm new to the website, I just bought a 2004 tl with 44k miles and I traded my older 2000
tl with 99k miles. When comparing the differences between the two in my opinion
my 2000 tl with 99k miles rode a lot smoother and better than my new tl, I dont know if it is suppose to ride a little rough or not, Has anyone one else came from a 2nd gen tl into a 3rd gen tl and thinks that the ride quality is a lot better in the 2nd gen. I love the third gen so much that I was willing to sacrifice the ride quality for looks.

Don't feed the...WTF?
I started in a 3rd gen, but here are my anyhow.
I'm guessing it is one of two things. Either the 3G was made with a more aggressive suspension and that is what your feeling - or - the suspension on your other car was a bit softer due to the mileage. I'm leaning toward my first guess though.

My wife has a 2G TL and when she drove my car she did notice the same type of difference. I agree with "Glowrdr" I believe the 3G is designed with a more aggressive almost sports car like suspension.

I also noticed that the gas milage was a lot better in my 2nd gen than the 3rd gen, I dont have any mods totally stock. In my 2nd gen a full tank would last me approx two weeks the 3rd gen would last me about maybe 9 days my driving patterns haven't changed either. Has any noticed this to? I think maybe the 2nd gen had a bigger tank but im not sure

One thing to keep in mind - still gets me and I;ve had mine for a couple years now. Not sure if this affects the 2G at all, but the 3G has a reserve built into the fuel gauge. Basically when your fuel light comes on, you can still get another 50 or so miles out of it. It will actually let you drive past when the trip computer says 0.
Next time you fill up - keep this in mind. When I fill up, I usually only get 12-13 gallons in, when there is actually 17 gallons in the tank. I let mine get down pretty well into 1/4-1/8 tank.
