not for a grand. That guys obviously a bull shitter. I doubt he is stock or has the money to bet. He drives a Neon for gods sake!!! As for a race: It would also depend on how the race is setup. From 0-60 he may beat you, but from 0-100 you'll kill him.

Myspace is now a racing media? LOL

I'd say it's a close one if the SRT is an '03, but he has a slight edge if it's an '04 up. Not to mention, he's probably got a little extra boost etc and may be running deep into the 13's. I wouldn't put up a grand.

or.....
take him up on his offer. go out and put 1-2000 in your car. when you win you'll get the mods for free or at a great saving.
if you put the comptech supercharger in for 4k you're saving 25%.

just make sure you win or else you're really screwed :P

No CT charger available for the 3G Type-S yet.

Since you drive the TL-S, you've already won.

First stop using that retarded teenager font... oh wait......

Second.... stock for stock... I'd say it come down to driver. SRT-4's are hard to drive for the novice from a dig and I'd lean towards the TL.... however from a roll I'd pick the SRT-4 hands down.

Third .... it is near impossible to find a stock SRT-4 since there is soo much you can do with cheap hardware store parts, that even from a Dig I would lean towards the SRT-4.

I bought one in 04... the first year they had a LSD. I roll raced my friends stock STi (SRT also stock) from many different MPHs.... and I pulled on him everytime. They trap really well. From a dig there was no contest.

When I hit the break in point (just after 500 Miles) I took the car to the local racing spot and raced a 02'ish mustang GT with exhaust and I nosed out in front of him from a slow 1st gear roll.

So with that in mind.... unless you can do the same... I would probably back down.

If you really want to show off.... just roll down your rear windows in front of him.

In my experience every stock SRT-4 Neon that I've seen was dead even with a 3G TL.

The SRT-4 Neon is more like a 14.3~14.5 second car, based on my experience.

Assuming stock v stock, that makes it a driver/traction race.

as mentioned before, he drives a neon. i wouldnt worry about it for a grand
but, i have raced one on the road before, not from a dig, it was like a 25 roll or so, we were both in first, i pulled to like 45 then he edged up beside me and at like 75 or so, i said eff that. it was too close to call a winner

Don't ever take a turbo car owner's word for being stock. The thing with these cars is you don't know what you're going up against until he hits the gas. You better be packing some serious heat if you're betting a grand. My GN sounds nearly bone stock and it's a 10.60 car. I've suckered many people with the stock line.

Heh.... true. Mine was relatively stock but still packed a slightly harder punch than a Stocker.

I had a Stage I Upgrade (Basically reprogrammed ECU), Stage II WGA that looked stock (helped hold more boost at redline), and some creative adjustments to the Vacuum lines that controlled boost (on a stock SRT-4 boost is controlled by vacuum solenoids controlled by the ECU). All in all I had $300 in parts and I had a solid high 13 car.... maybe faster if I could get the driver mod.

you will definately loose. Even though they are neons the srt's are no joke.

Tell him how muc of a faggot he is for buying a neon srt-4 to race people on myspace, where as you bought a real mans luxury sports sedan for daily/spirited driving

^^ lol. personally ive never raced against an SRT-4 but have been in cars that have. a friend of mine with a stock 04 5AT G raced his buddys SRT-4 with an intake from a dig/roll. from a dig the stock G would pull 2-3 cars by 110ish from a roll, the SRT-4 would pull 1-2 cars by 110ish. srt-4 driver wasnt too good at driving but knew what he was doing.

i say drivers race and who ever pulls the best launch wins. but if you both pull perfect launches i say srt-4 has the edge.

Wait, are you serious?

I guess they left the power window motors for the rear windows out so they could claim that the SRT-4 was the fastest car under $20 grand

oh and for those saying a Type-S can smoke an SRT-4 no problem, see here:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JPAUilYW5Zw&feature=related

Yes, you'll say "but it wasn't stock" but chances are, you're more likely to stumble upon a stock Type-S rather than a stock SRT-4.

I actually like the SRT-4s but they attract the wrong crowd. There were a couple local ones that came to blows at our street racing spot. They pulled a gun on some of my friends over an internet dispute. We ended up beating the crap out of them but they kept threatening to shoot us.... on the internet, which the cops didn't like too much. The majority of the SRT crowd around here was like that.
