Need some help
It is time for my A12 service. I have decided to get someone else to do this service. Leaning towards sears or the nice little lube shop around the corner. All I need done is oil change, air filter replace and tires rotated and the dealer wants $165
. I would do this myself but I have no experience and no jackstands!
My question is what motor oil should I use? Also when it says air filter that means the filter on the intake right? Should I buy the K&N filter? Can that be replaced easily (DIY?)? The "pollen filter" needs replacing as well. Is that easily replaced? What is the part number? Also, I want to change out my transmission fluid. If I want to use the GMFM sychromesh stuff how much is it? What should it cost to get that done just so I am prepared.
Please help. Hopefully I wont have to pay 165 for this seemingly simple service!

Take it somewhere besides the dealer. The recommended oil is 5w-20 for my TL, but it's older... it should be on the oil cap, though. Do NOT pay $165 for an oil change and tire rotation. If you have to, at least make sure it includes a liberal amount of KY Jelly.
