Need Help!!! Safety Inspection in NC
Hope this is the right area to post this, but here goes.
Need a location in North Carolina where I can get my safety inspection passed.
Got it done once at Crown Acura, thinking "Hey I bought it there, they will pass it no questions asked." That was not the case, They passed everything except the windows.
Need a place that will not measure the percentage of tint, Because I have 15%.
Could someone help a brother out

I have my front license plate removed! If you have a local auto shop you get repairs etc. you might want to see if they'll inspect you and let you slide on the tint. Keep Trying, you're bound to find someone who will let you slide. Slide them a few dollars under the table and ask if there willing to look past the windows!

TL no more!
Have you tried going to a gas station and get it inspected there?? I took my Accord with legal (35%) tints to a gas station and they didn't even bother charging the $10 tax on window tints on top of the usual $40 inspection.
If that doesn't work, there is a guy in Winston-Salem that can do it without even bother checking if you have window tints or not. He's on Link Road off of Peters Creek Parkway.
Here's a tip, before pulling into the gas station, have all your windows opened. It MAY fool them. I do that with my car whenever I go in for inspection to avoid paying the tinting tax.

NC Inspection annual safety/EPA inspection requires the inspection station to measure tints.
As you know, you can't go just anywhere, they have to sanctioned by the state to do the inspection. However, I agree with the above post - find a "hole in the wall" that is authorized to perform the inspection and tip for their help.
If you are in/near Charlotte, there is an inspection station you might try on South Blvd between I485 and NC 51. They are on the left if you are heading toward Carolina Place Mall, maybe a 1/2 mile before 51.
If Crown did the inspection and recorded the result (did you a computer printout with the pass/fail status?) your tint failure may be in the system and that *might* make it riskier for the next shop to let you slide.
Legal tint limit in NC is 35% Net (OEM plus tints) on the sides and back. You will pass the inspection down to 32%.

Just to be clear - no guarantees on that place. I go to the local Firestone and/or BP, I don't have questionable tints and I haven't even had this TL-S inspected yet.
I drive by the place from time-to-time and looks like just the kind of place that might overlook something. Especially if they are distracted by a couple of Jackson's that fell on the floor.
