Welcome to the forums.

Here's a link to the 3G Garage: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84834
Scroll down and you'll see a list of "most common problems for 04/05". There should be some helpful info. I also invite you to look through some of the topics in the garage as well.

Good luck w/ the purchase and let us know how it turns out.

The biggest issue on the 3G TL manuals is the 2nd to 3rd gear engagement issue. Just do a search, and you'll find many threads on it! I had an B6 A4 1.8T before I bought my TL, and you won't have nearly as many maintenance issues with the TL as you might have had with the A4.

check for cars for sale from acurazine members here
https://acurazine.com/forums/member-cars-sale-49/

the auto trans has probs just like gen2 does and has less warranty
the 6 speed has probs as described above- no real permanent fix for either trans~
Expect gas mileage to suck in stop and go, 19 in town is a good day, and near 30 on freeway cruises is normal
you MUST run the TL on 91 octane or 93 if thats what they sell where you live.
60k miles... think brakes and new spark plugs (7 bucks each) then nothing else until 100k when an extensive water pump timing belt 1200$ service comes due

Any car you like- get the VIN number and call acura at 1-800-382-2238x5 6am to 5pm pacific time. Tell them you are looking for the history and any recall or warranty issues or repairs done. And how long is the transmission warranty.

You can also buy extended warranty from acura dealer- some of them are here on azine- GET IT!! a trans failure out of warranty is 4 grand
