Need Advice: Lease on 2008 TL Type-S
Hey guys,
I've been gone for a while from this forum, since my last TL was broken into and taken apart
I went with the Infiniti and I hate it with a passion!
Now I want the Acura TL Type-S,
This is the lease offer I'm getting:
36 months / 12K
$1500 down (includes first month and other stuff)
and $450 a month.
Is this a good deal, or am I getting ripped by the dealer?
I went to the stealership at Brooklyn, NYC
Thank you for all your input in advance. I will highly depends on your feedback.
Best Regards,
Igor
PS They also said they can take my infiniti lease, which is over in 3 weeks, without me doing any inspection to it, basically they can return the infiniti by themselves, is this true, or is there BS somewhere?

In regards to the numbers, MSRP was $37,500 as the dealer showed me, I am inquiring about residual value and the money factor.
What is considered to be a good residual value? As I believe this one is 55%
This is what I got from ConsumerReports:
Invoice Price on Acura TL Type S 2008: $ 35,117
Dealer's holdback about $1,147
I asked the dealer to come with better numbers, dealing with the $35K, the moment I will get an answer back, I will post again.
Thanks guys!

The lease option is much better for me. I just need to know if the offer is good.
Also, if anyone can recommend a reputable dealership in NY/NJ/CT/PA area, I would highly appreciate that, I'm willing to travel for a better deal. I have 3 weeks to do this.
Thanks again.
PS So far I'm having a horrible experience with Acura dealers, I never had such bs with infiniti or bmw, they were open, straight and courteous.

stillhere153, what you would consider to be a good offer?
I've noticed you are also in NYC, where did you do your shopping?

Does the $450/mo include sales tax or not? If it doesn't add another 8.75% to your monthly payment.
You are responsible for your old lease. I wouldn't trust someone else to turn it in. My brother in law traded in a Ford SUV for a new Honda Pilot. The Honda dealer said he would take care of everything. Well a couple of months later they got a letter from Ford looking for their old truck. They finally tracked it down at the back of the Honda lot all scratched and dirty. Honda tried to say that is how they got it and make my brother in law pay for it. Long story, it worked out ok but it was a major hassle.
Return the car yourself unless it is the same make as the new one you are leasing.

camporealer, yeah, I was skeptical about trusting them on returning my car. So, I will do it myself.
In regards to tax, I'm pounding them right now at it. Everything is suppose to be included in that down payment, if not, I'm simply walking. I have time to find good numbers.
I'm just sick of hearing dealer's bs. I wish they were more honest. I don't mind the dealer winning, but I don't want to lose either.

15000K at 36 months! I know whats going to happen hes going to make you go there and be like whoops i thought you meant TL not TLS! That offer is way tooo low for a TLS lease. They in a hurry to get ride of the TL but not the TLS! That car wont be even coming out again until 2010 or 2011 on the 4G!

That is his pitch for an offer to get you in the door! You will not be walking out with that deal! My friend just copped a TL from DCH last week for a base TL. 4000 down and 331 a month! Give troy a call tell him i sent you and hell hook it up. He works for the web dept and they offer really good prices.
I don't think your friend got such a great deal for a base TL, $4000 out of pocket is excessive for an acura. How's his credit? Their offer right now on a base TL (nationwide promo) $359/mo plus around $1495 down, add taxes, and some math, your friend basically got this deal, he just decided to put more into a down payment, something you should never do.
My current FX35 lease was 1600 down and $359 a month with every single option in the car.
Thus, I'm here hoping to learn of what to expect, so I don't spend time later.

That promo $359 is for 12K
Nice. I actually did call DCH, gave them the numbers, awaiting a call back.
I just got a call from another dealer, $500/month (tax included), and nothing down (the usual fees) but this is with 10K for 36 months. This is not bad, but the 10K will kill me.

Ok, back to the deal I got earlier, this is what I was told
"The $1495 includes your 1st month, bank fee and you cap-cost reduction. Also transfer plates are $140. Your taxes and DMV fees will be added to your monthly payment.
"
So I'm looking at $1500 down and about $490 a month...
Suggestions???

Now you're starting to catch on! You still need them to tell you the money factor, local sales tax rate, and the residual value (for 36 months, they should give you 56%).
Also, what are the exact amounts of:
Cap cost reduction
Bank Fee
DMV fees
How are the transfer plates being paid?
They're playing with you because it's obvious to them that you really don't know much about leases. Not putting you down, just want you to realize that at this point you're knowledge is not what it should be for pulling the trigger on a lease.
Get them to put all of the figures I told you to get earlier in writing and I'll tell you if you're getting a decent deal.
By the way, Edmunds.com and the leasecalc site both have excellent do's and don'ts for leasing.

All 2008 Type S MSRPs are $38225 or $38425. You should have caught that right away.

Thanks for the info. I will follow up.
I'm working with consumer reports auto info (14 bux), it gives me all the info on what things should be, I'm not that oblivious, and I'm not rushing, I have 3 weeks to play with.
But I do appreciate the help, I will get back to you.

Ok, guys it comes down to two dealers.
Dealer #1 (I'm sure I can talk him down to drop like 10-20 bux a month)
[36mo / 12K]
MSRP: $38,940.00
Selling: $36,582.00 ($720 over his invoice price)
36 month / 12,000 miles per year
Due @ Start: $2,770.56 (includes taxes, 1st month & dmv)
Monthly: $472.41
2nd Dealer (not an actual Acura dealer) (will not budge)
[36 mo / 10K]
1st Month + DMV fees down = so $640 down
$500 a month.
Which deal would you take?
PS Mileage is not a big deal to me.

vinnier6, I hear you, but I need a car for work, my current lease is done in 3 weeks. I'm kinda worried about leaving everything to the last minute.
I'll ask them anyways about '07, maybe they do have it stashed some where haha

36 mo / 10k
$1300 out of pocket (covering 1st, bank, dmv)
and $480/m
And most importantly no BS

FWIW - I had an offer (spring of '07) of $482 per month (tax included) with ONLY 1st payment out-of-pocket.
2007 TL-S 5AT, 36 mo / 12k.
OTOH - from what I've read here, NYC prices have been consistently higher than my area and WAY higher than SoCal (lucky bastards).

the 8.75 tax is what kills, for NY quotes, so far this is the best I got, and this is thru a special connect.
Living Mid-West to SoCal, you are definitely getting better rates.

OK, I officially hate NY tax.
Out of pocket $1200 and $480 a month is the final deal.
TL Types 2008 36 mo / 12K
I think its pretty damn good, considering I went thru 6 dealerships.
Finally, I can sleep normally
