Question NAV can be stolen and 06TL price?

Hi,
I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to join since I am thinking of buying a 06TL with NAV and 6-sp.

Can the NAV be easily stolen? and is it common to steal OEM NAV, especically in CA? If I buy it, I'll be parking it on the street at night, and I am worried. If it can be stolen and common, I might not get the NAV.

What do you guys think? and how much does an 06TL+6sp+NAV cost out-of-the-door(including tax, ,licence....)in southern cal.

Thanks

I hope none of the forum members are thieves. I do not know how easy it would be to steal the display and DVD unit.

Buy the Navi version of the TL. If you are concerned about thieves, then get an aftermarket alarm system. Search the forums. I remember a thread or two on this topic a few months ago.

Welcome to AcuraZine.

Welcome to the forums. The nav takes quite a bit of effort to pull out of the car. You have to pull apart a lot of the trim and screws to be able to pull it out. I wouldn't worry about people stealing it.

Search and you will find the instructions on how to remove the display.

The navi also has a four digit security code. If you disconnect it from the battery, you need to enter the code before it will work again. Four numeric digits is not exactly uncrackable, but it should keep random dirtbags out of the Nav fencing market.

Assuming that you do not leave the manuals in the car that have the radio and Navi codes. Also search you glovebox for two stickers that have the codes.

Of course by the time the crooks realise this your car would have been vandalized and navi stolen..

I doubt the presence of a navi unit significantly increases the risk of your car being broken into, especially given that the pros are going to know that a stolen navi is unusable, unless they have contacts within honda to lookup the code for them.

An aftermarket alarm and safe parking locations remain your best option.

I wouldn't think so, because I don't think there is a big market for the Navi unit, unlike the HIDs. In my old non-navi TL, installing an OEM nav after the fact proved to a be a big over-taking that wasn't worth the $$$. So with that being said, I'd prob worry about your HIDs getting stolen more than the Nav unit. You don't live in Jersey do you?
