Did I say tailgate? I don't think I did. You see people like this all the time. Someone is chillin in the left lane with like 5 car lengths between them and the car they are following. And someone is really trying to get over from the right lane cause they're stuck behind someone else so they can get in front of that person in the left that is "wasting all that road space." I'm saying don't let that "In a hurry " person get in front of you.

so the other party stating "Your going to lose" Sounds like he slammed his brakes on purpose.

Another note, when I drive on the W. bridge, I stay right in the middle hogging both lanes.
As narrow as it is. I dont trust the other drivers. Yeah, it may seem like an a$$hole move but, why should I care about the other cars behind me?

Ever since another member got into an accident where the truck dragged his car from mid- bridge to the other end. ( Yes, a TL )

Most car companies will refuse to release that data to the customer.

If you have not filed a claim with the guys insurance i would advise you to do so. Don't go just by what the police officer wrote on the report, the insurance wouldn't either. They will take statements from the both of you as well as look at the impact points on both vehicles. The adjuster may agree with you after taking your statement and looking at the photos even though his insured may state something differently. I'm in the biz so I see this type of thing on a daily basis.

Also keep in mind if he isn't calling you asking you to pay for his damages then it's pretty obvious he knows he was at fault. If his insurance company hasn't called you about his damages either then he more than likely hasn't filed a claim with them either. He is probably hoping you go away quietly.

Alright OP, I was in the same exact situation as you when I first got my car.
I literally hit the person in front of me at most 20-25 mph. The damage to your car looks somewhat similar to how mine looked so don't be surprised if the total comes out to be ~5k$.
I used all OEM parts and went to a shop that mainly deals with Acura's

Good luck to you and I'm sure everything will be fine.

Looks very similar to a repair I just had to go through recently. Replaced right front fender, bumper, both headlights, straightened the hood, etc. (all body panel work, no structural or other underneath damage). Total repair was $3.5k, using OEM parts. Your headlights look fine from what I can tell - those alone were quoted at $500/ea.
Good Luck with the repair!

they are pricy but you get what pay for. i bet you rather pay more and have your car done right the first time than pay less and feel sorry about the quality of work done on your car. if i was to go to a shop, this would be it.

Good luck with your recovery. I just kissed the ass of a 2007 Hyundai Accent yesterday. She was moving backwards from hitting the guy in front of her! Not fun at all!

Did you go through insurance? I am still deciding on how to get it fixed.

Yes, GEICO. $500 deductible is better than shelling out $3500 that I don't have (just bought my daughter a car). The adjuster was actually very helpful - when I wasn't happy with what the shop did with my left headlight (they tried to buff out a scuff and I could still see the swirl marks) she authorized a new one on the spot, no argument.

Bro, this same thing happened to me. Except we were going about 65 mph. I won and so will you.

But rule of thumb that I use anyway is <5k pay out of pocket because generally that's how much more you will pay insurance over time if you use them...

Update: The other driver contacted his insurance company so my insurance company got involved.

Adjuster wanted to give me remanufactured/aftermarket parts. Got into a big argument with him and all he could tell me was how they were certified with some bs and that they would be up to OEM specs. FML

Is your car ok now?

How you want to do this?
You sure you want to do that?
You know you are gonna lose?

I called the cops and told them my side of the story. He repeated the "you know you are gonna lose" line like 5 times to me.

Luckily for you guys I had my camera with me, so I took pictures.

I take very good care of my car and wash it myself all the time. I even nicknamed my car the Type Shiny. Here is one pic of it after I finished cleaning and waxing it.

This is how it went down. In this picture you can see my car in the left lane. I am driving minding my own business, and there is NO TRAFFIC in front of me. Then this guy decides to come into my lane since there is no traffic which makes sense. Problem is the guy in front of him did the same thing which made the driver in front of me brake to like 0 mph.

I am probably driving at like a steady 25-30 mph before this happened and I was expecting the other driver to actually accelerate when he came into my lane because maybes hes in a rush? Nope, he butts into my lane and BRAKES RIGHT AWAY. WTF?! That threw me off, but I was forced to brake and ABS kicked in because I tried to match the way the other guy braked in front of me and then I ran right into him. Il admit the roads were wet but at no point in time was I tailgating anyone at any point in time before this happened.

The first thing he said to me is how you want to do this? I told him I was calling the cops and asked for his insurance info. He told me lets wait for the cops then. Fine with me, I got his plates already.

Then he tells me I am going to lose. Ok.. when did I say I was worried about winning or losing? I am doing what I have been told to do, which is to call the cops and get a police report written. What an asshole... he told me MULTIPLE times I am going to lose.

His car on the bridge

My car on the bridge

Another angle of my car after the cops made us get off the bridge

So we are off the bridge now.. and this guy is still telling me I am going to lose. What a douchebag.

The hood is not aligned properly, the bumper is not aligned properly, there are stretch mark lookin things all over the paint in the bumper, there is a hole in the bumper, the acura grille is pushed in towards the engine. I dont think there is any damage to the fenders.

I plan on going through insurance. How much $$$ in damages does this look like to you guys?

Don't let them push you into doing that. It's your car and you are entitled to have your car properly repaired w/oem parts if that's what you want. Go above the adjusters head if you have to.
