i work for verizon... all phones sold now are required to have GPS capability... maybe u should have checked to see if he used your cell phone, you can track him down...

if everyone is still skeptical, i can vouch or disvouch this guys story and pull up his cell phone acct to see if it is really disconnected or not... if u agree vtectl, just PM me your number you canceled.... then u won't have the frustration of everyone calling bs on ur.. either that or scan your police report...

VtecTL, sounds like you're not bs'ing, in which case, I'm sorry to hear about your loss - but at least the insurance will cover it.

What cell phone did you have though? You can still see if the idiots used/tried to use your phone (by calling Verizon) and see if they can give you/the police their last location.

All current models (as of the past year or so) phones are required to have GPS locating/transmitting freq built into the circuitry of the phone -- what does this mean? it means that when the phone is activated, it can be triangulated to a radius of ATLEAST 50 METERS (AT WORST) -- so in the event your phone is there and powered up, it can be located!

A smart theif would have taken the battery out!

Bummer. Sorry about your loss.

I've been to that station a couple of times. It's usually not busy. I would think the employees would have noticed a bummy looking guy hanging around. Do you think he got out of another car or was on-foot and just hanging around? What time of day was it?

A good reason to lock the doors as soon as you close them. I still see a lot of people walk a ways before they lock their cars; I guess they want everyone to know they have remote locks. I do not see who you will impress since almost every car you can buy now days have remote door locks.

i wouldn't even suspend the acct, then theres no chance the thief would be stupid enough to use it and reveal his location.

Wow! Does insurance cover these kinds of things????

Some guy told me a somewhat...similar story. He actually left his car with the key in the ignition. Seconds latter, his car was gone. He freaked out about the insurance company not being able to cover his big F$@K UP so, he lied to the police. The car was found days later, badly damaged and striped (Wheels, stereo and more gone). The car was a write-off. Overall, the guy said he lost a small amount money. Assholes like him raise our insurance.

Anyways, I believe your story. There’s a lot of @#$%en crack heads in my city. I believe any thing could happen. I hope all the best 4 U.

No wonder all your pants have the Ass section cut out of them!

if its true i feel bad but i never heard of closing roads and highways when they dont even have a location where the car was, and if it was a bum i dont think he would kno where a chop shop was, if anything he is sleeping in it.

remarks that are from customer state the phone was stolen... it only says stolen/lost cause the system only has one option... it is specified by whoever enters the notes which one it is... who knows... it is currently suspended bc it is stolen...

This is a hilarious thread "some poor, bum looking white guy around his mid 40's snatches the keys from my hand and goes in the car and locks it so I cant get in."

I know that isn't supposed to be funny, but for some reason i can't stop smiling & laughing, if i wasn't at work i'd be on the floor- hysterical.

How exactly does a bum snatch your keys from you when your holding onto them? Just sounds funny. No struggle sounds odd. He didn't say anything or do anything else? You didn't see him walking up to the car? Did he have a weapon? Was he much larger and intimidating? He locked the doors before you could keep it open? Did you just figure whathehell thats what insurance is for? Well its insured and you're okay so just goes down in history as a funny story.

Before driving off with your car, did he lower the window and ask for spare change?

There's a decidedly Peter Sellers-quality to the way the crime unfolded. Life really is stranger than fiction.
