Second, get a lawyer? For what? Who is he going to sue, his brother? Hey how about the people who were innocently driving along and had a car come into their lane? They hit him so let's sue them!
It's this mentality in this country that causes our car insurance premiums to cost thousands of dollars. Being in an accident should not be equivalent to winning the lottery. IMHO

Second .. I think that's exactly why he should get a lawyer .. he careened across a highway and others were involved in an accident.. he needs a lawyer not to initiate proceedings but to defend against them.
All of Contivity's recommendations are valid .. just because you're expecting him to sue doesn't mean that's what he needs the specialists for ...

Like you said Brewmaster, with ABS and VSA he definitely shouldnt have lost it. And he didnt get hit at all in his travelling lane, he got hit only after he crossed the median.
Your info says you're 22. How old is your brother?

was there any citation issued
did the bro get a ticket? I tried to read through all this.
The insurance company might not like the fact that there is a loss and your rates might go up..
Here in MA they make you put all drivers in the same household who might drive the car on the insurance (even as a deferred driver). That way if they are driving it and they crash you are covered. If they are not listed, then the insurance company can say not listed not covered.
The lien holders get paid off first so if you were one of those minimum down and 84 months to pay people, you might owe some cake to the bank... depending on the circumstances..

I would still recommend a chiropractor even if doctor say nothing, just to be on the safe side...

A lawyer to defend yourself against a possible lawsuit makes sense. I wasn't looking at it that way.
I still don't like Chiropractors. From my experiences with them, they are psuedo doctors looking to make a buck at the expense of anybody who can pay. Mostly the insurance companies, but in the end these costs get passed on to us.
IMHO.

He could have been cut off while speeding, slammed on the brakes, saw there was no way he was going to stop in time so attempted to swerve away from the car and lost control over the median. If it was raining and you are going at highway speeds attempting to swerve last minute to avoid something, no VSA or ABS will be effective enough to avoid a spin out. I agree VSA will prevent you from spinning out at lower surface street speeds, but if you jerk the wheel going 70+mph you're screwed!
Just a scenario to consider. Don't condemn the boy yet. Find out the story of any witnesses - if someone is swerving in and out of traffic a witness would state that in the police report.

the tl renowned for its safety, just doesnt lose control... i have taken a fast turn in it, and as soon as the car stated to slip the computer pulled it right back in... he had the vsa OFF, i can almost gaureente it.... the cars computer can tell you all of that and more.... the airbag sensors keep track of everything.... speed, wheel angle, car position, system info.... acura might be able to pull the codes.... chk with them....
