My Life is over.

On Thankgiving weekend I was traveling home from my wife's baby shower. I had the TL full of gifts. My sister was following me in her car because the gifts didn't fit in just my car. We were traveling on interstate 680 south when traffic came to a sudden stop due to a accident that happened minutes ago. I slammed on the brakes trying to avoid collision. The car veared sideways a little bit but i didnt hit any cars. My sister however was unable to stop and she hit my left side bumper at about 50 mph. She spun my car 360 degrees making me hit this other car. I thought it was all over until another another car couldnt stop and hit this jeep wrangler which plowed into the passenger side of my car pinning it between a ford truck. Everybody is okay but my car and baby gifts are thrashed. I havnt seen the car yet bacause they carted me off to the hospital in an ambulance. All i know is I'm going to hopefully enjoy the 05. I'll post pics as soon as possible.

glad to hear that you are still around to enjoy the real present, the baby.
hope everyone is doing well. the car and gifts are replaceable...
more reason to be thankful you were in a safe car.

by the way, if you have home owners insurance, you can claim
the presents and replace them after your deductable.

Most of our family is re-purchasing the gifts they got us. The rest we will buy or just do without for the time being

Hope your sister doesn't take it too hard .. If it were me following someone I'd beat myself up pretty badly.

I'm glad you're OK Jbond.

Besides, there are plenty of other TLs on dealer lots. Let GEICO do its job and you'll be sportin' again in no time.

Echoing everyone else, I'm glad you're not hurt (at least not bad enough to keep you away from our community!) Let us know how Geico treats you. I use Geico as well and have nothing but positive things to report with the way they handle their claims, but I haven't been the one at fault. Were you considered at fault in that accident? Or even partially?

First, I'll echo the above in saying I'm glad to hear there were no serious injuries. But don't you think "My Life is Over" is a bit dramatic for the thread title?

Good to hear you are OK. It might be the last thing it did, but it sounds like your TL really shined in its final moments by keeping you safe!

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate incident. At least you and your sister are ok. Gifts and cars can be replaced. In this case, replaced with a shiney new '05 .

Man that is too bad. Nice to know no one was hurt. We all need to be very alert while driving for these kind of things.

Exactly the reason for adhering to the "2 second rule" (4 seconds if it's wet) for following. Yeah, it's hard to do in heavy traffic, but it can be done. It's saved my bacon many times!

Man...get it together. The heck with material things. I really thought you were talking about PEOPLE. All that other stuff is just that, stuff. You will have many cars over the course of your life but hopefully only one wife & (first) child.

I'm sure your insurance is already high. As others have said, let them worry about the damage repair and probably the stuff inside the car. It was just Thanksgiving, be thankful.

Glad you are okay! I'll bet your trip to the hospital caused your wife a bit of grief though! The gifts are definitely NOT important in the long run, new babies don't need all that much anyhow! Just a place to sleep, a bit of milk, clean diapers and happy, healthy parents that love them!

"My Life is over?" Are you that depressed over your car? Get over it, and be thankful you didn't die.

Good lord people. Get a grip. The title of the post was not MEANT to be taken quite so literally. Isn't it OBVIOUS? Good to hear the TL protected as designed. I think the title is appropriate (when viewed in the light intended by the original poster - as would any SANE reader).

Hey, trust me man, i know exactly how you feel, believe me. I'm not proud of what I did either. I was acting stupid at the time and pulled up in my Scion tC at the stop sign. This 04 Honda Civic comes up to me and revs his engine. I let him go, but then I go after him, cuz i can't take it. We were riding on an SSSSSS road. I zoomed by him, but lost control of my car and my back end did a 180 sliding into the side walk, breaking down a few trees, which were clean cut, my front end going into a break wall, and on top of that my car tips over on the drivers side sliding a few more yards. I was unconcious once i hit the curve, but woke up while i was tipping over, and climbed out of the moonroof with a bump on my head and a burn from the air bags.

Bad news , I totalled my car and got pissed

Good news, I'm alive and well, and back on the market for car shopping .........i'm not sure what i want, but HINT HINT........ (05 or 06 TL)

Lord - PLEASE don't let this idiot buy a TL. He didn't learn his lesson in the Scion and I don't want to see him die in a TL in a repeat performance....

I'm really sorry to hear about your misfortune... as with everyone here, I'm glad no one was severly injured. I was involved in an accident this past September and it's really painful to go through. Just try to keep things in perspective. In the long run, none of the materialistic stuff matters... congrats on the baby! =)

I'll add my sympathies. Glad everyone is ok. Stuff is just stuff. It'll be replaced. Was the wife in the car with you?

As one who had my firt baby this year I can honestly say once the baby is born you'll forget all about the car. It's the greatest thing in the world.

Condolances on the car and congratulations on the baby. Take good car of him (or her).

This would have been a sure write off up here in Canada especially since it appears all the airbags went off.

Sorry it's taking so long to get back with you all. I've been dealing with the insurance issues. The insurance companies are trying to find out who is at complete fault for the accident. My sister hit me causing my car and others to be damaged, as well as another car hit somebody which in turn hit me. I don't know how they are going to resolve the situation. I found out my car is in Oakland, but i'm stuck in Walnut Creek (45 miles away). I cant get a rental until the insurance company gets there act together. I just want to see the damage.

Wow.....tires don't make a difference when you're hit by 3 other cars. Show some perspective here people.

And I'm glad you're doing ok Bond...insurance companies are a pain, but take care of your body first and foremost.
