My first two rattles :>( and first impressions of 2010 TL loaner
Hi Gang, just wanted to share my experience with my newly adquired certified pre-owned 2007 Type-S.
I followed this forum for a long long time before I decided on the TL (Crossed-shopped A4; A6; 535i; M35), but I went for the TL for its looks and value compare to those others. I already knew about this model having rattling issues so that's why I test drove my car 3 times for a very long drive before I purchased it. The car never had a noise during the test drive (go figure); two weeks into ownership, I hear a chime, squeeking noise comming from the overhead console (where the map lights, garage opener controlers is), the rattle/noise inmediately dissappear as soon as I apply preasure on the overhead console. The other rattel came from the sunroof when I slide the cover, not as annyoying but annoying nonetheless.
I took it to the dealer and they fixed the sunroof rattle by adjusting the tracks now the car is sunroof rattle free :>). The ordered the overhead console, so they will be taking care of that rattle next week. I can honestly say that I love this car in every way, and now that the dealer is stepping up to the plate and taking care of it, I am more at ease.
Now, my impression on my loaner, 2010 TL with navi. I LOVE the steering wheel, it is thick (ala BMW sport) and the leather feels awsome. I didnot like how light it is, I like the steering feel of my Type-S much better but that is because I like a heavier turning. I wish I can have the same leather as the 2010, they feel and look more luxurious and the black color is stunning (matte and great contours). They grip you more than my Type-S.
The interior layout is very nice, and the Navi screen is insanely beautiful (I'll post pics later). The resolution is close to HD (compare of course with mine). I do however like the touch screen and the fact that the 07 screen is at my fingertips not in the upper dash. The sound system is a step above and with the addition of a Hard drive is pretty cool to be able to upload your whole CD collection. The ride was to mushy for me (maybe the SH model fees different). I can live with the interior as it is very very nice.
Now, the exterior WTF!!!! To each his own, and we all have our own taste, but for the life of God, who gave the go-a-head for this design. Even though we spent 100 of our driving time in the inside, the fact that I can pass by a building with a big window and see how this car looks in the outside, it would make me cry. I heard somewhere that the design team is working hard in changing this desing for the next re-do, they can't work hard or fast enough. They need to go back to the drawing board.
Anyways, I'll let you guys know if they fix the other rattel for those of you that might have the same problem. Other than that, again, Ilove this car on every way.

Veni, vidi, vici
They (everyone for the most part ) have been talking about that ugly mug on the 4gen for years now. But I think Acura must have some plan or something. I dunno, but no one has complained about the interior ( beauty is whats on the inside???). I love the interior as well, beats the sh*t out of BMW and Audi interior.
Hope those rattles go away. I have been driving my cert. TL 05 for a year now and no complaints here.

price paid
The negociated price was $24,500, certified pre-owned. I financed for 5 years at 3.90%. The car had 32,000 miles. The car is flawless in and out. I took my sweet time since I have a beater to drive around, so I was able to get the exterior (Silver) and interior combo that I wanted.
I saw 9 Type-S and I test drove 6 of those and this is by far the cleanest one I drove. The car also came with all weather mats, trunk tray and cargo nets (not big deals, but nice little things to have).
One funny story, I went to see a white type-s on a GM dealership advertised at a good price (non-certified). The car did not have the dual mufflers, the front facia was the base TL,the wheels was from a base TL, in short when I told the sales manager of the place that this Type S has been stripped down, the look on his face was priceless. I guess the person that traded-in pull a fast one on them. It was hilarious as I had to show them on my cellphone how a type s really looks like.
You did the right thing in getting the 08; I went through the same thing last year, and after seeing the 09, I decided that the new shape was not my cup of tea. Maybe in 2012 they return to a more edible design.

I seldom get off topic on AZ, but as a die hard Back to the Future fan, I had to add how much that made me smile and laugh, thanks!
To the OP, owning a 3G TL-S 6MT, and working on and driving 4Gs all the time, there are a few things I def like about the 4G, but I would def still take my TL-S anyday
