My first TL rattle

My TL has 5000 miles on it and is 3 months old. I've noticed my first rattle.
It seems like the speaker on the dash and surrounding area vibrate. Has
anybody else experienced this, and is it easily fixed ? It's pretty minor, but
it also annoying.

I have not heard that rattle. And I am quite anal about that kind of thing. I did have rattle under what I think is the plate surrounding the gear shift, nothing that some double stick tape and foam could not fix.

I had the same problem with my TL and the dealer fixed it last week. They took two days to found and to fixed the problem. Based on the services guy told me, other people had the same problem too. The good news is they can fixed it The bad news is won't have your car for full two days

Yes there is a do it yourself fix probably posted in the garage sticky thread.

Basically pull the speaker out and put one sided tape foam strips around the speaker metal sill that it sits on.

I hope this is helpful. It sounds simple enough to do it yourself.

Tl Raddles

THE ONLY RADDLE I GET IS FROM THE PANEL THAT COVERS ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY

Yeah, I think I have the same one but not sure where it's coming from. Sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the center speaker, other times it sounds like it's coming from behind the instrument panel. Have you tried to fix this rattle on your own?

There's a definite irony when having to ghetto-fix (i.e.: tape down) a rattle in a new $35G car.

My only one was from the mirror cover on the sun visers. When the visers were down in the mornings and late afternoon, everytime I hit a bump the covers would rattle from the plastic on plastic . I just bought some clear rubber stops and stuck them between the cover and the mirror. When my TL was in the shop they gave me a TSX to drive and it's mirro cover had a built in rubber piece. Makes no sense why they wouldn't put in on the TL.

Sometime the problem is not the speaker mounting. This is what the dealer found on my TL.

2925 RATTLE/SQUICKING NOISE ROAD TEST VECHILE FOR RATTLE NOISE @ RIGHT REAR R&R REAR SEAT AND BACK ASSBY, R&R REAR COVER AT TRUNK. CHECK WEILD SPOTS AT REAR PANELS, SET BELT MOUNTING AREA. CHECK R/SPEAKER MOUNTING AREA, SECURE ALL FASTENER, ROSD TEST VEHICLE AGAIN - RATTLE STILL AT R/REAR REMOVE RIGHT REAR SPENSIONS. REMOVE R/READ STRUT, CHECK BODY METAL AND WELDING SPOTS FOR CRACK OR BROKEN BODY WELD, LUB R/REAR STRUT UPPER SUPORT AND RETOROUE TO SPEC. ROAD TEST VEHICLE- RATTLE CONDITION REMEDY.

Novice,

These were great instructions. I performed this repair last night and it took < 5 minutes.
